Historia
This story coincides with April 30, or May Day's Eve, when it was held that witches met on the Brocken mountain and kept communion with the devil. It is named after St. Walburga, an English nun who helped convert Germans to Christianity in the eighth century. Her feast day coincides with an ancient pagan festival whose rites were intended to give protection against witchcraft. Stoker originally wrote this story to be included in his novel Dracula, but the editor struck it from the original work.

I see why Stoker chose to omit this scene. it doesn't hold with the presentation of the rest of the story. Still, for the money, it was worth the listen.

Historia
Sixteenth-century Spanish gentleman Don Quixote, fed by his own delusional fantasies, takes to the road in search of chivalrous adventures. But his quest leads to more trouble than triumph. At once humorous, romantic, and sad, Don Quixote is a literary landmark. This fresh edition, by award-winning translator Edith Grossman, brings the tale to life as never before.

I picked this up on a whim and knew nothing about it other than that he tilted at windmills.
I was very pleasantly surprised to find that Don Quixote is not only beautifully written, but hilarious as well.

A tale of mystery, adventure, and political intrigue, this conclusion to Dumas’ swashbuckling musketeer saga is based on the true story of a masked prisoner who dwelled in the Bastille during the Louis XIV’s reign and whose identity remains in question to this day.

beautifully written, masterfully narrated.

Without spoiling anything for anyone, I'll confess, I got some petty serious feels towards the end there.

No glaring editing errors like in book 1 which helped maintain the feel of the story. Though he occasionally takes an unexpected, creative direction with the emphasis of a few sentences, Mr. Ingles' performance is on point and fits very neatly with the setting.

Wonderful story, unpolished production.
Revisado: 08-14-16
This is one of my all time favorite stories. but there were a few minor issues with the production. the narrator's voice cracked inn a few places and they neglected to remove the part of the recording where they advise the listener to fast forward to the end of the cassette and then flip it over to hear the other side. You'd think someone would be assigned to listen to each book before it becomes available for purchase so they can edit out that sort of thing.

Historia
As the Empire reels from its critical defeats at the Battle of Endor, the Rebel Alliance—now a fledgling New Republic—presses its advantage by hunting down the enemy’s scattered forces before they can regroup and retaliate. But above the remote planet Akiva, an ominous show of the enemy’s strength is unfolding. Out on a lone reconnaissance mission, pilot Wedge Antilles watches Imperial Star Destroyers gather like birds of prey circling for a kill, but he’s taken captive before he can report back to the New Republic leaders.

Weak story
Revisado: 08-05-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
No. I was really hoping for something that captured the spirit of the original films.
What was most disappointing about Chuck Wendig’s story?
That it didn't seem to go anywhere or establish anything.
What does Marc Thompson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Thompson is an amazing narrator. He uses s distinct voice for each character which does a lot in terms of keeping track of them.
Also, the music and sound effects are well used and add to the sense of immersion.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Yes. But, like Force awakens, only because it's Star Wars.
Any additional comments?
this book gave me the distinct impression that the sequel "new canon" reboot was the wrong decision to make.

Historia
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Historia
Herodotus is not only the father of the art and the science of historical writing, but also one of the Western tradition's most compelling storytellers. In tales such as that of Gyges, who murders Candaules, the king of Lydia, and usurps his throne and his marriage bed, thereby bringing on, generations later, war with the Persians, Herodotus laid bare the intricate human entanglements at the core of great historical events.

The history itself is fascinating. but the narration leaves something to be desired. There were occasional background noises like it was recorded in someone's house while their family was doing their best to be quiet.
