Don't kill my imaginary friends!
Revisado: 07-26-11
I am not a BDB finatic, but I really, really enjoy the characters and the books. (When I read the boods, I am fascinated by the characters. When I am not reading one of the books, I move on with my life.) Have you ever read a book where you feel kind of depressed because it ended before you were ready to let go of the new "friends" you made? JR Ward makes their personalities and life real, not just stories about people. Well, as real as Vampires and Lessers can be. Unfortunately this book is a wattered down version of those characters. I feel like "Lover Unleashed" killed my friends. They are just ghostly images of the real thing. I am currious to understand the conditions the author was under to turn out a book so lacking compared to her other books. JR Ward! I demand a re-write! Like kids playing kick ball in the street, I am calling a "DO OVER!". Until then, I will look forward to the newest book in the "Fallen Angel" series. I do have other friends, you know...

Pretty good but didn't hook me on the series
Revisado: 07-05-11
Just so you know where I am coming from, the BDB are my standard. I am trying to find an author who can create interesting characters and a story you can’t put down. This was pretty good, but not fun enough to hook me. I didn’t find myself wishing I could meet the characters in real life. Tavia did a good job with all of the voices including the men except when it came to Bone, she used an annoying squeaky voice with his accent. All I could visualize was a wimpy nerd. The book just wasn’t enough for me.

I enjoy dramatizations of books.
Revisado: 09-16-10
I heard a few chapters on XM Radio, so I downloaded it. I like some si-fi. This book was a little bit complicated but I still found it entertaining. I like the characters. I really enjoy dramatizations of books, and they did a good job of filling the spaces between the lines with what you might expect to hear as background sounds. Good performance from the voice actors. I liked this enough, that I downloaded the next book “Galactic Convoy”. As a point of reference, I recently listened to “Armor” by John Steakley, and “the Helmsman” is not nearly as substantial or memorable as “Armor”. I probably won’t listen to “the Helmsman” again, but I have already listened to “Armor” twice.

Young, beautiful, and successful, Elena Michaels seems to have it all. Her happy, organized life follows a predictable pattern: filing stories for her job as a journalist, working out at the gym, living with her architect boyfriend, and lunching with her girlfriends from the office. And once a week, in the dead of night, she streaks through a downtown ravine, naked and furred, tearing at the throats of her animal prey. Elena Michaels is a werewolf.

Entertaining.
Revisado: 09-15-10
It was good. The story took a different Vampire twist. There was action and plot twists and the characters were fairly well developed. The narration was okay. I liked the book. Somehow the story fell flat toward the end and I finished it because I needed an ending. It was entertaining, not bad, but not the first book that comes to mind when I recommend a vampire book to a friend, probably the 5th or 6th. I don't need to listen to it again, but I wasn't unhappy for purchasing it.

Ursis nodded soberly out the Hyperscreens toward the merchant ships, then turned to Brim. "Out there, Wilf Ansor," he brooded, "are real heroes of war. To fight from behind disruptors of warship is something anyone can do. One can always count on lucky shooting to save him from disaster, or heavy armor plate at least. But to face enemy with only black void and thin sheet of hullmetal separating you from disruptors, and then stay in formation, that is kind of bravery we Sodeskayans record in Great Books."

It just wasn't for me
Revisado: 09-15-10
I heard a few chapters of the first book on XM radio, was intrigued and ordered the book. I liked the first book and downloaded the second. This story seemed thin and I just couldn’t finish it. It wasn’t necessarily a bad book, it wasn’t unique enough for me and couldn't hold my attention.

Revisado: 09-15-10
I enjoyed it. It was different and fun. I liked the characters. I liked the use of Navy terms. As a Navy spouse, it was easy to follow, but I don't know if the average civilian would find it distracting or not. I have downloaded Book 2!

I never thought I would enjoy a si-fi, combat book, but I really, really did! I'm sure Stakely never meant Felix to be so sexy, but in my opinion, he is! I can't wait to download Vampire$. The reviews are very good.

I guess I've grown up...
Revisado: 08-06-10
I have enjoyed a lot of Johanna Lindsey books through my college years and well into adulthood. This one bored me to the point where with only 30 minutes left of the book, I gave up and just deleted it. The story couldn’t hook me, and the characters were pretty thin. This will be my last romance book, heavy on the romance. Ever since I fell into the Black Dagger Brotherhood books, I just can’t enjoy all of the dry romance, sighing, tingling, heart aching so called love stories.
Love and sex is messy, the should I or shouldn’t I, wishy-washy stuff bores me. I guess I have outgrown the bodice rippers.

Historia
In the 10th year of the Change, the survivors in western Oregon have learned how to live in a world without technology. They have held the Lord Protector, Norman Arminger - the warlord of Portland - at bay. The tensions between these factions have been building for some time, and the only reason they haven't confronted one another on the battlefield is because Arminger's daughter has fallen into Clan Mackenzie's hands. But Lady Sandra has a plan to retrieve her, one that may spark open warfare.

The Story Continues...
Revisado: 03-29-10
I really enjoyed "Dies the Fire" and just had to know what happens to the characters I have come to know and care about. I was fascinated with how human nature and individual character responds to a complete change to everything we know and rely on to survive in our modern day world. "Meeting at Corvallas" is the next chapter to the chaos of the first book, and captured my attention and imagination, however the story seemed to drag out to the end. Oh, wait, it's not over, and now I have to get the next book to finally get closure to the story. Hummmm.
