Historia
In a series of illuminating, often surprising experiments, MIT behavioral economist Dan Ariely refutes the common assumption that we behave in fundamentally rational ways. Blending everyday experience with groundbreaking research, Ariely explains how expectations, emotions, social norms, and other invisible, seemingly illogical forces skew our reasoning abilities.

Good book - if a little repetative

Very interesting subject and well presented - could have been a little quicker to get to the point but I managed to get to the end.
Very good reading!

Historia
Why has one game, alone among the thousands of games invented and played throughout human history, not only survived but thrived within every culture it has touched? What is it about its 32 figurative pieces, moving about its 64 black and white squares according to very simple rules, that has captivated people for nearly 1,500 years? Why has it driven some of its greatest players into paranoia and madness, and yet is hailed as a remarkably powerful intellectual tool?

Great History of Chess
Revisado: 01-28-08
The author presents a great potted history of chess orientated around the Immortal Game - a game which occurred between the wars. I found the book great to listen to and very informative.
I would recommend it to anyone who has a general interest in chess.

Great for all you budding Armstrongs out there!

Just a brief comment about this audiobook.
It would have been nicer if Lance had done the speaking himself but I found it very interesting and even listened to it more than once! If you are interested in getting a view on how to deal with life's problems and still come back better than ever then this book is for you. Also If you are a cyclist, which I am, it is an interesting insight into one of the greatest cyclists ever to sit on a saddle. I would recommend it to most of my friends.

Historia
For almost four desperate years, from 1939 to mid-1943, the British and American navies fought a savage, losing battle against German submarine wolfpacks. The Allies might never have turned the tide of that historic battle without an intelligence coup, and the race to break the German U-boat codes is one of the last great untold stories of World War II. David Kahn, the world's leading historian of cryptology, brings to life this tense, behind-the-scenes drama for the first time.

A good book but not best read!
Revisado: 06-21-06
The book is quite interesting but the voice of the reader just grated on my very badly. It sounded like it was read in a outside toilet! Any way I did listen to the whole book and I learn't quite a lot.

Historia
There have been many biographies of Stalin, but the court that surrounded him is untravelled ground. Simon Sebag Montefiore, acclaimed biographer of Catherine the Great's lover, prime minister, and general, Potemkin, has unearthed the vast underpinning that sustained Stalin. Not only ministers such as Molotov or secret service chiefs such as Beria, but men and women whose loyalty he trusted only until the next purge.

I'm not really a history or war buff but this had me fixed. The reader helps to keep the pace going.
I enjoyed it.
