Don't like the ending
Revisado: 07-10-18
I loved this series! I was so excited to read this book but was so bummed about the ending. Spoliers ahead.....
The whole series works up to the showdown between Mare and Maven then you don't even get to "see" the end of it. Then it leaves you hanging with the whole "I need space" thing between Mare and Cal. Ug... so disappointed.

Historia
Set in Victorian London, with characters real and imagined, The Map of Time boasts a triple play of intertwined plots in which a skeptical H. G. Wells is called upon to investigate purported incidents of time travel and to save lives and literary classics, including Dracula and The Time Machine, from being wiped from existence. What happens if we change history? Félix J. Palma explores this question, weaving a historical fantasy as imaginative as it is exciting

Almost gave up a few times
Revisado: 10-31-17
The Map of Time has an interesting story that kept me entertained enough to continue listening. Unfortunately I wasn't a huge fan of the narrator. He's very slow. Once I figured out how speed up the audio it got better. Not a book a will be adding to my favorites list but not bad either.

What would you do if you found an evil dwarf in your bathtub? In Robert Darkly's case, you scream like a girl. And then you get taken on a journey to an entirely different world living just on the other side of our own reality - a world where fairy tales are real but not in the way we've come to expect them. The aforementioned dwarf, Rumpelstiltskin, has escaped the tower prison of Thiside determined to finish the sinister plot he started so many years ago.

Enjoyed very much
Revisado: 09-18-15
I very much enjoyed this story. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because I was disappointed that it didn't continue the story from Blood and Bane. I was confused as to when this took place in relation to the first story until about half way through the book when it mentions the events of 10 years ago. . Overall it was a good story and kept me sucked in.

The novel opens in contemporary Missouri, where Lansdowne, whose friendly exterior masks a history of covert missions and lethal violence, is still recovering from the death of his beloved wife one year prior. But as autumn gives way to winter, the outside world intrudes in a bloody fashion: A string of attacks on locals yields a spiraling body count; the apparent culprit is an animal extinct for thousands of years.

Great story and a gerat narrator
Revisado: 09-12-15
Since his beloved wife, Glenna, died, it seems like Mark Lansdown just wants to live a quiet life with his 3 dogs in his secluded home. But that’s simply not going to happen.
I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. It’s definitely written from a man’s perspective and I think guys would perhaps like it more than most women. That being said, and even though I’m female and it’s not my usual genre, I quickly got into the story and all the other stuff I was supposed to be doing got shelved for the duration. :-)
The author has crafted the characters - especially those of Lansdown and his sidekick, Scruggs - with care, and the mystery he builds around their previous lives makes me sure I want to read the next one.
I very much enjoyed the narrator, Mark Westfield, as well. His voice is wonderful and I liked the effects he used for the characters talking on the phone or walkie-talkies. It really added to the audio. Hope he does the next one!
Great story premise, too!

Fun story with a good narrator

I enjoyed the story and the narrator was great just like the first. I found the scene with Grayson to be annoying (just tell him what's going on damn it) but otherwise was swept up in the story.

Nadia Wolf had one wish, and it wasn't for the latest designer purse, fashion-forward clothing, or even a handsome man to marry... although, that would be acceptable too. Her wish was to win the World Series of Poker tournament and collect the one million dollar prize, beating the arrogant men who make her professional poker career a daily challenge.

Good book and narrator
Revisado: 02-21-15
This isn't the type of book I usually read/listen to but it was recommended by a friend so I gave it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised. The story captivated my attention and the narrator was great. It seemed unusual to have someone with a British accent at first but she has a very nice voice and didn't try to over play the characters like I've heard in lots of other books. It felt more like someone reading me a story than a one person, over acted play and I liked that. I liked the character of Nadia and I didn't feel like it was predictable. I'm looking forward to listening to High Stakes.

Least Favorite
Revisado: 02-08-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, but only because I love the series as a whole.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
It seems too long and slow.
Any additional comments?
I love this series but this book was hard to get through. Part of the reason I loved the other books was the relationships with Dorian and Chaol who, although they are in the book, aren't interacting with Celaena. I'm looking forward to the next one though.

Love the books
Revisado: 10-06-14
Would you listen to The Magician King again? Why?
I might listen again. I loved the stories.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I loved them all. They were all so different.
Which character – as performed by Mark Bramhall – was your favorite?
I don't know that I had a favorite. I did have a least favorite though. The performance of Poppy was horrible.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes
Any additional comments?
This trilogy was awesome! One of my favorite set of stories in a long time. The reader was a little slow for my tastes but once I figured out I could speed it up it got a lot better.

My 9 year old loves it!
Revisado: 07-01-14
Would you listen to The Secret Zoo again? Why?
Yes. We decided to try an audio book on a car trip and this was the one I choose. My kids loved it. Especially my 9 year old son. He doesn't like to read but when this was done he asked me to buy him the book. I may have found a way to get him more interested in books. Yay!
What about Patrick Lawlor’s performance did you like?
He did a great job with all the voices and he was great with the sound effects.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. The kids were so bummed every time I had to pause it.
