Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Taking intro to Astronomy helped my understand how electromagnetic spectroscopy works. A very relevant theme and an against all odds survival in a vacuum. Great read for the holidays.

Historia
For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Quite Helpful
Revisado: 12-02-21
I relate to David Goggins, however this for anyone wanting self-improvement.
I had a short military career of 6 years and there were matters out of my control or how could have I done things differently.
I’m not the only one and David’s challenges are challenges. I hope to incorporate some of his life lessons. Everyone has goals. I’ve made a few cookies, but I’m not finished, neither is David.
Highly recommend it. During the reading/listening I’ve been more physically active. Feeling those old pains again just made me realize that I’ve been too soft.
My copy has been coast to coast twice this year. I’m making more time for myself, and I’m even going to war with myself.

Historia
In the fall of 2009, Taliban insurgents ambushed a patrol of Afghan soldiers and Marine advisors in a mountain village called Ganjigal. Firing from entrenched positions, the enemy was positioned to wipe out 100 men who were pinned down and were repeatedly refused artillery support. Ordered to remain behind with the vehicles, 21 year-old Marine corporal Dakota Meyer disobeyed orders and attacked to rescue his comrades.

More than a Book
Revisado: 08-28-18
I had the pleasure of Dakota signing my hardback copy in 2013. His simply “just another grunt” mentality doesn’t define his actions and deeds. He was very humble considering what his book details. He reacted accordingly when his leadership (2-miles away) failed him and his team. West’s writings allows the reader/listener to understand chaos. When chaos is present, how does one react? Dakota’s thorough Marine Corps training, spirit de corps, and willingness to act are reflected in this book. For anyone considering to understand the conflict of commands in Afghanistan should get this book. The ROEs (rules of engagement) had these men fighting with an arm tied behind their back. Then the book explains the level of petty extortion they must deal with locals. West captures the conflicts lower-ranking enlisted must deal with everyday on the battlefield. Too many garrison officers are worried about their careers when they should take risks to save the lives of other Americans who are requesting their help. Unfortunately, the failure to act cost lives in theatre. Semper Fidelis

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

The Moon is a Harsh Mistress Today
Revisado: 12-23-17
I never read/listen to The Martian. To all the nay sayers. Read a book! This was executed very well in performance and structure. Hienlien would have been very proud about another alternative story about the Moon. Fast forward 51 years, Andy Weir brought a telling story that encourages Sci Fi readers, like myself to separate the good from the bad scifi. Thanks for the hours of enjoyment, team at Audible!

Historia
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Historia
In February 1959, a group of nine experienced hikers in the Russian Ural Mountains died mysteriously on an elevation known as Dead Mountain. Eerie aspects of the incident—unexplained violent injuries, signs that they cut open and fled the tent without proper clothing or shoes, a strange final photograph taken by one of the hikers, and elevated levels of radiation found on some of their clothes—have led to decades of speculation over what really happened.

Oswalt combines memoir with uproarious humor, from snow forts to Dungeons & Dragons to gifts from Grandma that had to be explained. He remembers his teen summers spent working in a movie Cineplex and his early years doing stand-up. Readers are also treated to several graphic elements, including a vampire tale for the rest of us and some greeting cards with a special touch.

The Lilly story is new to me, which I was 50/50 interested. I read the comics 2 years ago and it felt word by word. I still enjoyed it, but thankfully it was short.

Historia
Steven Rinella grew up in Twin Lake, Michigan, the son of a hunter who taught his three sons to love the natural world the way he did. As a child, Rinella devoured stories of the American wilderness, especially the exploits of his hero, Daniel Boone. He began fishing at the age of three and shot his first squirrel at eight and his first deer at thirteen. He chose the colleges he went to by their proximity to good hunting ground, and he experimented with living solely off wild meat. As an adult, he feeds his family from the food he hunts.
