Historia
Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator. A man powerful enough to defy the heavens. A master of martial arts. A lord of spiritual power. Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck in his body. Arrogant Masters? Heavenly Tribulations? All that violence and bloodshed? Yeah, no thanks. I’m getting out of here. Farm life sounds pretty great. Tilling a field by hand is fun when you’ve got the strength of ten men—though maybe I shouldn’t have fed those Spirit Herbs to my pet rooster.

Historia
Mark Ablett's stately mansion, the Red House, is filled with very proper guests when his most improper brother returns from Australia. The prodigal brother enters Mark's study, the parlor maid hears arguing and the brother dies...rather suddenly, with a bullet between the eyes. The study is locked from the inside and Mark is missing! Investigating the crime is wealthy Antony Gillingham, who rivals Sherlock Holmes in his remarkable powers of observation.

Took a long time to get to the point

Excellent mystery. Pretty much solved half way through. Too much going back and forth. Too much of the action is talking.

I thought I knew the AIDS story. I didn’t. And what I did know, a lot of it was wrong or incomplete. I thoroughly recommend this program.

Historia
Copilots Msizi and Tariro are testing a newly constructed wormhole jump that presumably leads to unsettled habitable worlds. Then an explosion sends them off course, far from where they started and with little chance of ever making it back. Now they’re stranded on their new home for the diaspora. It’s called Malcolm X-b. But they’re beginning to wonder how many light-years from civilization they really are.

Original and thought-provoking

I really enjoyed this story. The pacing was perfect for the reveals. There were cultural references made that I am sure I only partly understood: a life after death reference. But this now gives me something to explore broadening my knowledge. This story was a delight and I highly recommend.

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Interesting view into past thoughts
Revisado: 01-02-23
Besides being a good story as one would expect from Arthur C Clarke, this also provides a fascinating view into what the world was thinking of space exploration a decade and change before it happened. So many false assumptions and expectations. But the assumptions at least were not unreasonable given the science of the 1940s. Highly recommend.

Surprisingly impressed
Revisado: 12-31-22
I am a 64 year old white woman: not exactly Maejor’s typical audience demographic, I am sure. This offering must have been free because I cannot imagine adding it to my list otherwise. So, let me say how surprised I am that I thoroughly enjoyed this. Marjorie comes off as utterly sincere and genuine and his music is beautiful. It really resonated with me (not wanting to be punny; resonate is just the best word). I even bought the Vol 1: Frequency album and am looking forward to the other two. This is an impressive young man.

Fantastic Book but I'm Really Annoyed with Audible
Revisado: 06-07-21
The narrator does a superb job of depicting the various characters: male, female, robotic, alien. The story is excellent and the action moves at a terrific pace. It's hard to put down.
My gripe is with Audible. It becomes clear during the acknowledgements at the end of the book that there were illustrations included with the book including the ship designs. This is denied to the customer of the audio book because, unlike many other Audible offerings, no pdf is included with this book. Thanks a lot, Audbile! Now I have to buy the book again as a Kindle book. Had I know that I could have made the Kindle purchase first and then the Audible version would have been at a reduced price.

Historia
Narrated by Emmy Award–winning actor Martin Sheen, The Home Front: Life in America During World War II takes listeners into the lives of Americans at home—part of the Greatest Generation—who supported the war effort and sustained the country during wartime. The war brought immediate, life-changing shifts: the rationing of meat, dairy products, and sugar; an explosion of war-related jobs; and, despite mixed signals, a greater role for women working outside the home.

A different perspective revitalizes old theme
Revisado: 01-16-20
I tend to eschew WWII material. It is so over-talked about that I find most of it boring by this time. Yes, yes, I know it was an important time in history, etc. etc. So, I got this title reluctantly, might have even been a lesser evil for the monthly originals selection (by the way, that is an awful system: there are months where there is nothing I want and months where I want everything. Why can't one use credits on one month for another, but customer service says no).
I am so glad I did get it though. First of all, the perspective of how life was impacted at home was a fresh angle on an old topic. I'm sure this has been done before also, but the perspective lent itself well to the audio medium. The inclusion of in-person interviews either of surviving members of that generation or from recordings that were taken at the time, such as the call ins to the President, were priceless. I believe this is a purchase I will be listening to several times.
The one annoying thing was that this was prepared as a series of broadcasts and therefore the audible interrupts the flow with closing credits and previews. I think it should have been remastered to make a continuous flow. The credits do differ for certain segments, so maybe that is why the decision was to leave it broken up.

Historia
America's most beloved writer, Lilian Jackson Braun, author of twenty-four Cat Who... mysteries is now the subject of a mystery herself. In this spoof by one of her most ardent admirers, her beheaded body has been discovered in the men's room of a gay bar in Lower Manhattan. The police are baffled, and so it is up to Braun's eccentric writer friend, James Q. (Qafka), and his Siamese cats Ying-Ton and Poon-Tang to solve the ghastly mystery.

Not All I Expected
Revisado: 11-28-19
I love a good parody. A good parody is a love-letter to the subject of the joke. The description of this product said that the author was a fan of Lilian Jackson Braun and I'll just take that on faith. Because it wasn't obvious from this effort. If I hadn't read that in the description, I might have found some of the material mean. The main joke of the novel seems to be that Ms. Braun had a secret deviate sex life. Some of the elements from the Cat Who... series are present: there are two cats with Asian names who provide clues rarely. I did find it funny that they are junk food eaters instead of the gourmands in Ms. Braun's work; the main character is recognizable as the main character in the Cat Who... novels, but some of the other frequently recurring characters are merely referred to in passing (for example, Polly). In summary, it was interesting and even enjoyable, but I'm not likely to listen to it again. It wasn't really what I expected.
