The only two white boys in the school are orphan brothers Odie and Albert, who, under the watchful eyes of the cruel superintendent Mrs. Brickman, are often in trouble for misdeeds both real and imagined. And they find another ally in Cora Frost, a widowed teacher who is raising her little girl, Emmy, by herself.

Historia
Seriously, what was the weirdest place you've ever met someone? What about a place with no address, where the weather was always perfect, the scenery stunning, yet death was as close as your next breath? The choice to go there for Madison McBride and her sister, Winter, was simple. They had no choice. Their parents were the chief designers of the first underwater city on the planet. They packed three suitcases each and said goodbye to every friend they had.

I loved the ideas behind this story. So environmentally relavant. The characters are amazing and the pace kept me interested throughout the story. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Historia
A powerful, moving memoir - and a practical guide to healing - written by Dr. Edith Eva Eger, an eminent psychologist whose own experiences as a Holocaust survivor help her treat patients and allow them to escape the prisons of their own minds. The Choice weaves Eger's personal story with case studies from her work as a psychologist. Her patients and their stories illustrate different phases of healing and show how people can choose to escape the prisons they construct in their minds and find freedom, regardless of circumstance.

Life changing
Revisado: 07-16-22
I read that this book would be life changing but had no idea how profound it would be.
Parts were difficult to read because of the degree of suffering but essential to the story. It needs to be read by many of us who have hidden our pain and how to turn it into healing.

I still think back on Trevor's story and lessons learned. I learned alot about life in South Africa and the extra harassments from being a mixed race. Love to know what his mother thought about the book!

Historia
Chief Inspector Armand Gamache of the Surêté du Québec and his team of investigators are called in to the scene of a suspicious death in a rural village south of Montreal. Jane Neal, a local fixture in the tiny hamlet of Three Pines, just north of the U.S. border, has been found dead in the woods. The locals are certain it’s a tragic hunting accident and nothing more, but Gamache smells something foul in these remote woods, and is soon certain that Jane Neal died at the hands of someone much more sinister than a careless bowhunter.
