Historia
Jack Reacher wakes up alone, in the dark, handcuffed to a makeshift bed. His right arm has suffered some major damage. His few possessions are gone. He has no memory of getting there. The last thing Reacher can recall is the car he hitched a ride in getting run off the road. The driver was killed. His captors assume Reacher was the driver’s accomplice and patch up his wounds as they plan to make him talk. A plan that will backfire spectacularly . . .

Not up to Snuff
Revisado: 11-29-24
Rambling story line with no back i was an hour into the story before I knew what the process was. I still don’t know the secondary plot.
And Reacher tying people up to be picked up by cops then leaving the area before making sure the cops got the guys. Who then escaped. Is Reacher getting senile
They cranked up the window on a Mercedes? Must have been an antique one.
There aren’t so many little errors in this book. I’m very disappointed. I don’t think I will read another Reacher book. It’s a shame. I have read every one but it seemed the magic has gone.
If you want something like the Old Reacher try the Jack Widow series. It’s like the old Reacher.

Not his best work. Probably could be a hundred pages shorter.

The Gray Man used to be interesting and tough. No sniffles and tears. This book has so much more minutiae and so much less action and surprise that it was difficult to finish

Historia
The French have captured the Spanish fortified city of Ciudad Rodrigo and the third invasion of Portugal has begun. The only barrier between Wellington’s army and the huge French invasion force is the fortress of Almeida, but a spy inside the city threatens to force the garrisons surrender before the British army is strong enough to meet the French in battle, with half of Wellington’s force consisting of untested Portuguese troops. Craven and Ferreira are sent to hunt the spy, but soon enough the army must stand and fight.

Good but not great
Revisado: 10-02-22
Craven turns into a wimp and won’t get out of bed. Why do authors always make their heroes into wimps after the 4th or 5th book.

Historia
Vick "The Reaper" Harwood is an esteemed sniper with a record kill count - 33 kills in 90 days - when he is knocked out under mortar attack in Afghanistan. He wakes up back in the United States with little memory of what happened, his spotter and gun both unrecovered from the battlefield. Harwood has resigned himself to slowly picking up the pieces of his life. But when a series of assassinations start occurring in the area, Harwood can't explain why he just happens to be nearby for each killing - or how a sniper rifle that matches the description of the one he lost seems to be involved.

Nicely Done but
Revisado: 04-03-22
This reader is great. The story is very well done except for some spots that are redundant. In the beginning you have to just stay with it while the protagonist goes on and on about leaving his spotter behind which he didn’t. Then keeping obsessing over something he didn’t do.
Once you get past that this is a very well done story. I look forward to another

Evan finds his feminine side
Revisado: 01-25-22
What a disappointment. If I wanted to read a novel about the protagonist getting all teary eyed and wimpy I would buy a romance novel.
I don’t understand why so many writers of successful series inevitably have to turn their hero into a wuss It ruins the whole series.
Skip this. It’s all whiny with hardly any action.

An enlightening glimpse into nine battles and campaigns during the Pacific War Allied offensive. Each of these momentous operations were fascinating feats of strategy, planning, and bravery, handing the Allies what would eventually become a victory over the Pacific Theater and an end to Imperialist Japanese expansion.

Revisado: 01-13-22
I enjoyed this book quite a bit. It gets into the detailed history of the Pacific war. The reader has a great voice and enunciation. He made me laugh with all the mispronounced words. After a while it wasn’t funny. If you can get through that you’ll enjoy this epic history

Minutiae, improbables and unfinished side stories
Revisado: 12-29-21
Really wanted to like this book but the multiple people and sidelines never came together. Then there was the minutiae. Do we really need to know someone had a martini with three olives? Or, that the flashlight had a plastic cover and a switch on both sides?
Finally the book just lumbered along for the first 90% and turned into a sprint at the end leaving a bunch of unresolved issues.

Historia
Mick Hardin, a combat veteran now working as an Army CID agent, is home on a leave that is almost done. His wife is about to give birth, but they aren’t getting along. His sister, newly risen to sheriff, has just landed her first murder case, and local politicians are pushing for city police or the FBI to take it over. Are they convinced she can’t handle it, or is there something else at work? She calls on Mick, who, with his homicide investigation experience and familiarity with the terrain, is well-suited to staying under the radar.
