Historia
Professional journalist and amateur drinker Bianca Bosker didn’t know much about wine - until she discovered an alternate universe where taste reigns supreme, a world of elite sommeliers who dedicate their lives to the pursuit of flavor. Astounded by their fervor and seemingly superhuman sensory powers, she set out to uncover what drove their obsession and whether she, too, could become a “cork dork”.

Absolute must read for wine drinkers
Revisado: 08-18-17
I live in wine country, have made wine for years and know dozens of people in the industry and I still learned more about it's craziness than from any other source. The author (and reader) is wonderfully self deprecating, full of bust out loud humor and incredibly knowledgeable. I have not only recommended it as a read -although with the author's voice it really come alive- but have purchased it for many others. A home run and if she decides to do this with another industry I hope I get word.

Balram Halwai is a complicated man. Servant. Philosopher. Entrepreneur. Murderer. Balram tells us the terrible and transfixing story of how he came to be a success in life - having nothing but his own wits to help him along. Through Balram's eyes, we see India as we've never seen it before: the cockroaches and the call centers, the prostitutes and the worshippers, the water buffalo and, trapped in so many kinds of cages that escape is (almost) impossible, the white tiger.
With a charisma as undeniable as it is unexpected, Balram teaches us that religion doesn't create morality and money doesn't solve every problem.

Lots of dark humor with a real understanding of life in modern India. Narration is half the pleasure of the story. Can't imagine reading it without hearing the voice.

Really a bomb
Revisado: 11-02-16
While there were a couple of stories worth a listen, most were poorly written and embarrassingly portrayed. The final story was so bad (and we were stuck in our car out of range) that we got into the campy awfulness of it.

A Disturbing read that every male should make
Revisado: 07-19-16
What did you love best about Missoula?
This is a story of acquaintance rape acceptance in one college town, but it applies to every college and every town. It is an issue i simply was not aware of but after Krakauer's excellent and painful documentation of the issue, i now have a totally different view of how young men and women relate in today's hook up society. It was a transforming story for me and i feel a better person for it. It should be required reading in all college freshmen classes.
What did you like best about this story?
The very documentary style combined with the personal experiences. Much of it is painful and i was tempted to skip forward, but in the end i was drawn in to the whole story.
Have you listened to any of Mozhan Marno and Scott Brick ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Not sure.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me sick at times but as i said, transformed my opinion.
Any additional comments?
I genuinely hope it is not relegated to a back shelf. All colleges should require it as pre-entrance reading.

Sorry there is only one star
Revisado: 07-19-16
What disappointed you about The Collectibles?
I returned this book after wasting a couple of hours. It is a childishly written silly story about a perfect do-gooder who somehow works miracles. Perhaps i missed a genre classification in that it may be either a young adult book or religious fundamentalist
Has The Collectibles turned you off from other books in this genre?
not sure what the genre is unless it is fundamentalist writing
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Hammy vocalization but the dialogue was so poor the person didn't have much choice
What character would you cut from The Collectibles?
All
Any additional comments?
Avoid this like poison unless you have a very simplistic view of the world

I simply can't get enough of the guy. From first discovering Lamb through everything else my hope is he will keep his absurd humor going. This second in the series is as good as the first and the reader captures all the accents and characters masterfully.

Garrison Keillor's latest book is about the wedding of a girl named Dede Ingebretson, who comes home from California with a guy named Brent. Dede has made a fortune in veterinary aromatherapy; Brent bears a strong resemblance to a man wanted for extortion who's pictured on a poster in the town's post office. Then there's the memorial service for Dede's aunt Evelyn, who led a footloose and adventurous life after the death of her husband 17 years previously.

Any Keillor Fan Will Love This Story
Revisado: 04-09-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Anyone who enjoys the stories on Prairie Home companion will chuckle their way through this off beat adventure about death and hidden secrets in Lke Wobegon.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Pontoon?
The finale of Pontoon is hard to listen to without bursting into tear inducing laughter. While the bizarre conclusion was appropriately hinted at thorughout the story, Garrison brings it home like the master he is.
Which scene was your favorite?
While each of the scenes has appropriate build-up of character it isn't until they all come together at the end that the story reaches the level of hillarity that Keillor is known for.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Death has never been so hilarious

comic book story
Revisado: 02-29-12
This book wasn???t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This is Travis McGee as a super agent/killer. The book would have been fine for a flight across the country, but is hard to take word by word. It got to a point where the next injury was beginning to draw a laugh.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Don't know
You didn???t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Certainly fast paced, but too slow as an audiobook
