5 Stars – Ate It Up and Left No Crumbs

Whew… Enchantra was everything. I’m still reeling in the best way. I gave this 5 stars without hesitation because I genuinely fell in love with the story, the pacing, the connection to Phantasma and most of all, the slow, tension-filled cat and mouse between Genevieve and Rowan. It had me hooked from the beginning, and I didn’t want to put it down.

Genevieve? Obsessed. Rowan? Whew, that man. Their chemistry was such a slow burn, but it never felt boring, it felt like foreplay in the best way. The tension between them kept me turning the pages because I needed to see when one of them would finally break. Their dynamic was everything: dangerous, emotional, and addicting. You could feel their pull toward each other even when they were trying to fight it. This book just hit differently in a different way than Phantasma and I’m totally here for it.

Now, I’ll be honest, there were a few slow parts. The pacing dipped in places and I thought, okay, this part probably could’ve been trimmed just a bit, but I was never bored. I was just too invested. I needed to know what was going to happen next. I also love how this book connected to Phantasma, even though it felt totally different. Like, this had a whole different vibe but somehow still fit so well in that world. The little nods and threads tying both books together made my nerdy reader self so excited.

Overall, Enchantra was magical, emotional, and intense in the best way. If you love a twisted love story, strong characters, slow burn that keeps you thirsty, and fantasy that blends beautifully with darker romance, bih run, don’t walk. I ate this book UP and left no crumbs. Rowan and Genevieve now live in my head rent-free. Not sure friends, is Rowan a “daddy” now that, I’m still debating! Hehe 🤭

Okay, let me just say—Her Soul to Take was wild in the best way possible. I went in expecting some spice and dark romance vibes, but this book delivered so much more. It was dark, twisted, sexy, and surprisingly emotional. I didn’t know I needed a morally gray demon love interest until Leon walked into my life (or Rae’s, technically). I mean come on, humans with demons? Doesn’t get better than that…He’s seductive, dangerous, and yet still somehow soft in moments that matter.

The story follows Rae, a true crime YouTuber with a rebellious streak, who moves to a small creepy town and quickly finds herself in over her head with cults, demons, and supernatural secrets. I loved how Rae felt like a real person—snarky, curious, brave, and flawed. Her chemistry with Leon? Off the charts. Like off the charts. The spice is definitely not for the faint of heart—it’s intense, kinky, and very specific, so definitely check content warnings if you’re sensitive to certain themes.

But beyond the steam, there’s a surprisingly well-developed plot with creepy atmosphere and actual stakes. The pacing kept me flipping pages, and I appreciated that the horror elements weren’t just a backdrop—they felt real and disturbing. The lore of the town and its sinister secrets gave me strong Silent Hill or Lovecraft vibes, which I adored. And I just watched Lovecraft Country this past weekend btw. 🫢

Why 4.5 instead of a full 5? A couple of scenes dragged a bit, and there were moments where the plot could’ve been tightened. But honestly, that’s a minor complaint because overall, I devoured this book.

If you like dark romance with horror elements, possessive but respectful demons, and don’t mind pushing some boundaries, you’re going to love Her Soul to Take. Just maybe don’t read it alone at night. Or do. I’m not here to judge.

Final rating my awesome friends: 4.5 haunting, smoldering, demon-infused stars.

I just finished Phantom by H.D. Carlton, and I’d give it 3 out of 5 stars. Ugh 😩

It started off really interesting, and I liked the idea behind it. Ronaldo is mysterious, a little intense, and very protective. Genevieve is strong and curious, and I liked how she didn’t just fall for him right away. Well, maybe she did, she actually did, she was intrigued and interested in her stalker/Phantom. Their chemistry was there, and the story had some steamy scenes, but nothing about it made me feel uncomfortable. It just didn’t fully pull me in the way I hoped it would.

The writing was decent, and I could picture what was happening, but I didn’t feel super connected to the characters. Some parts felt dragged out, and I found myself losing interest here and there. I wanted more emotional depth and more surprises in the plot. It was good enough to finish, but not something I’d be excited to read again.

Overall, it wasn’t a bad book—it just didn’t wow me. If you like dark romance with a little mystery and drama, it might be worth a try. Just don’t expect it to blow your mind. This just didn’t do it for me, and Ronaldo aka Phantom would not make it to the “daddy” list! Very disappointing!

If you have not heard of Detective Claire Wolfe series please get them, you will not be disappointed, well I wasn’t, they kept my attention and I had fun reading them all.

Honestly, I didn’t think I was going to like this book Phantasma… buttttttt I was totally wrong. I loved it. Another awesome dark fantasy romance. I couldn’t put this book down. I literally was glued to the pages. If I wasn’t so busy I would have finished it in 24 hours but I ate this book up and again left no crumbs. Ophelia aka Angel and Daddy Blackwell, the perfect pair, the angel and devil, how cute?!?!!! lol Another 5 ⭐️ read!

I can’t wait to read book 2, “Enchantra” just in time for its release next month too!

The Last Mrs. Wimberly by Monica Arya review…

Monica, Monica, Monicaaaaaaaaa, girl you have done it again, this was hands down an incredible read. I enjoyed listening and reading it, I enjoyed the storyline, the plot and characters. Although most characters were literally annoying as heck and evil, this book did not disappoint. I loved how you just capture reality that happens in todays life and make them into a wonderful and meaningful fiction novel. You have opened my feelings and emotions all at once, my heart pounded and stayed tensed once the thrill was released and the beast was set free. But I might say you are a little demented and deranged and honey I am here for it because so AM I!!! (Wink, wink 😉)

The Red Market today is so real and bringing this topic to such a horrific story brought so many tears and emotions that I did not know existed. Mental health is also something that is so real and not talked enough about, as well as PTSD. What Brooke experienced is just beyond crazy but “the reality” of life. We are all tormented and tortured in some way, including myself, definitely not having my organ’s sold for money without my consent, or being raped numerous times but my mind is my most sensitive yet powerful voice and it can either make or break me. lol

From the beginning to the end, such a masterpiece and just in awe 🫢 of passionate but also disturbing embrace and I am so glad that I dived into this read. It left a mark on my soul and will forever remain close to my heart. I cried on so many pages towards the end just holding my chest because I understand and can relate of having endured post-traumatic stress. We all have a story to tell, or not to tell, it is upon the individual but healing, really healing is something that is so important, because if you don’t, you bring all that Baggage, Mess, Stress, with you to all your relationships, (work, friends, family, marriage etc). It is important to really Let Go and Let God, the healing in that is “victory” and pleasing enough, because it never really belonged to us, the victory belongs to the Lord.

Thank You Monica, for writing such an amazing psychological thriller, I now need to pray and schedule another therapy session with my therapist. lol 😂

P.S. - that ending, chef’s kiss! 😘

Happy Reading! Xoxo

The Favorite Girl by Monica Arya review…

Dear Monica, can I call you that because at this point I consider us new besties after reading this psychotic over the top (did not know what I was getting myself into) deranged, unhinged, CRAZY, (had me by the throat and still does) book. What the heck did I just read because friend, that is what I am asking myself after finishing this book about 30 minutes ago not even sure how long ago but still has me lingering in my thoughts and now do not know what I want to read next. And honey, I need something to read next. From page one it just had me locked all the way in, it gave The Housemaid by Frieda feelings but of course just different but that is what crossed my mind when I started this book and I was excited and could not put this book down. I was gripped and literally messaging one of best friends (Jasmine) because she had already read this last year and raved about it, not sure why it took me this long to finally get back to it but I ate it up and left no crumbs behind. The storyline, plot, character build, everything about this book was trigging in every kind of way, it was beautifully crafted and written so very well to the point I was just incredibly proud to have read and enjoyed such a dark story with so much depth, emotional roller coaster heart pounding, sitting on the edge of my seat ride. You my friend, might be one of my favorite authors, let alone new best friend, friend. lol My next read is - The Next Mrs. Wimberly and I am actually really excited to read it. Thank you for writing such a great novel I look forward to reading more of your books! 5 stars⭐️ and deserving of them all!!!

Let’s get into this book: Demi is an Indian poor female that do not have a pot to do her thing in, she has been living out of a hotel and not sure where next meal is coming from, being met Rina a kind and caring woman “so you think” befriends and connects with Demi fairly quickly. Rina starts to develop a relationship with Demi and ask her to come back to her house, not knowing that her home is massive and she is rich, she goes with Rina and Rina’s son back to her house. Rina is married and allows, insist that Demi stays over night with them to assist her with an interview that Demi has the next day. Rina has a whole day with Demi, getting her ready and helping her look the part. Mind you Rina’s husband and Demi had a faint discussion about her working for the Ivory family but does not tell or say anything to Rina about it. (Um, red flag #1) Rina is saying all the right things to Demi which is making Demi feel very loved and wanted.

Demi interview is weird and very awkward, she goes to this prestigious massive estate and everyone is wearing White, flag #2, has blonde hair and green eyes but that comes afterwards, Demi is so in need of a job, she signs over her soul to the Ivory family (The Devil) and everything crumbles down from there. Not knowing exactly what she signed up for, but she soon finds out, they are “trafficking” “Stepford wifing” young girls. A wall inside of Ian Ivory who is the husband and man of the house is made out of bones of the females that don’t bleed- not pure, not virgins when raped and tortured being sold to nasty old men. Demi is very very very stupid and had my whole self just screaming and really saying some horrible things while reading this book, I mean she is very blunt, does not take kindly to people disrespecting her or telling her what to do unkindly which I agree but ger, shut up because you about to be NEXT!!! She was always the chosen one and in line to take next place after Mrs. Ivory who also was a favorite girl and picked by Ian Ivory but she was horrible and such a dumb bih as well. Everyone was in on it even the good ole innocent Bradley, it was sickening to watch and know that Bradley’s sister was not able to be saved and had to watch her get raped to the man she unwillingly married then raped again, choked by Conrad as well-that twist I did not see coming until it was about to hit me in the face and it broke my heart too. Conrad was a devil, they were brothers come to find out which was crazy but he was the worse of them all, however, I am glad that Demi was able to get her revenge and live out her life, I mean, why not, she is “The Favorite Girl!”

If you have not read this, or thought about reading it, do not hesitate to read, it is that good, I ate it up and left no crumbs! You will not be disappointed!!! 5 stars⭐️.

Seed by Anita Ahlborn review

This was a very quick and fun read. It reminded me of the Exorcist House series but totally different story of course. It was exactly what I needed after reading some dark romances. Sheesh 🙄 but it was good. The plot was good, the characters all of it, I really enjoyed it. The devil is always up to noooo good!

Hunting Adeline by H. D. Carlton review

“Heaven isn’t a place you go to when you die, it’s inside the person that’s worth dying for” - Zade aka The hunter

This book broke me and I still have a huge knot in the middle of my throat from just wanting to burst out and cry. All the emotions and roller coaster of craziness has me needing lots of therapy and a drink but since I do not drink, I will take my therapy and a good discussing cute Romance lol. Hunting Adeline was the meat and potatoes of both, Haunting Adeline was the introduction of Addy (the manipulator) always and will forever be “little mouse” and Zade (Shadow Daddy) but turned into The Diamond and The Hunter- This second part was even darker and more liberating and just gripped me by the hair, my heart and soul. I will forever hold Hunting Adeline to my heart. The darkness but pureness of what really goes on in this world, sex trafficking and rape and abuse all to have power, yes the money too but not so much as the power and what comes with it. Hurt people hurt people and it’s sickening! I loved how Carlton showed Zade’s love for Adeline and all that he will do for her. Touch her, and you will die, look at her and you will die, he will burn the entire world down for her and I just loved every word that was written. The plot and storyline stayed on course and delivered a powerful message as well and story that I could not stop reading. I understand how some would not take to this book(s) but for me, it was the perfect craziness that met my crazy and I am here for it. I could go into details of Adeline’s struggles during the kidnapping and after the recuse, all my emotions and feelings of it all but I would be here all day talking about this book. Just know that it was even more powerful and wonderfully crafted, it just got better. I cried my eyes out in chapter 32 and 33 I just could not take it anymore. Adeline was stupid, very impulsive and had a smart and blunt mouth which got her into a lot of trouble but it was also who she was just had to learn things the hard way and eventually got her revenge and of course always had Zade. My words might be all bunched up and tongue tied from the adrenaline rush and high from reading this book but all worth it. I just don’t have all the words right now to express and describe what I am feeling but this book was sooooooo very good! Carlton you did it again and brought everything together and it surpassed my expectations! Now, I will call and make that therapy appointment because friend, I need it! 5⭐️ read for sure!

Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton review

When I say I am still trying to find the words that sum up what I have read within the past days of this book and the next, I am still at a loss of words. I am stuck and just in awe with you H.D. Carlton and what ignites you to write so beautifully and truthfully. The words cut like blades right off the pages and I am just can’t get enough. Haunting Adeline - I feel, no, I know I must be mentally ill, deranged, disturbed or low key just a psychopath but because I do have the Love of Jesus and I am saved I cannot allow my whole self to succumb completely to my darkness! This book was just captivating right from the start, I mean really, why not have somebody stalking you, taking what is not there’s and pushing you to the limits that make you scream and shake uncontrollably? All in a good wayyyyyyy! Why not, yes please, again my alter ego speaking and I am here for it. The torture of a beautiful dark soul with a flicker of light who can’t get enough of you! Desirable and sexy- Shadow Daddy aka Zade, yes please with all the toppings and whatever else he possesses to throw my way. I ate this book up and left no crumbs- a sexy stalker who is stalking and leaving roses. He yearns and possesses Adeline and why not?! I mean it does not get any better than that. Carlton, you released something in me that I have not felt in a while reading your books, and I know it will not stop here. But this is what I am talking about, a book that will create imagination of all your inner darkest secrets that you never knew would explode until you read it on pages! From the characters, the plot, the banter between Zade and Adeline to the cliffhanger that literally makes you read book two was crazy, crafted and just throughly thought out, it was EPIC! Thank you Carlton for yet another masterpiece and amazing read, I inhaled this book and never looked back! The spice was on another level that I was not ready for but I buckled up!!! lol 5 ⭐️ read!
