Awkward Style, Plot Holes
Revisado: 09-14-24
Characterization was particularly poor in this installment, and the storyline barely held up through the book. it felt like the author cared more about exploring St. Moritz than writing a plot and having scenes and characters fit into it in a satisfying way. there was no motive for the murder and I was disappointed to have been sure of the solution from the beginning. It flows easily and is a pleasant read, but a moment's pause is enough to realize just how much this book is missing.

Is a romance novel, not a mystery
Revisado: 04-12-21
Couldn't finish it. I love mysteries and thought I'd try out an audible recommendation once... This is not the kind of book I was looking for. The mystery was far secondary to poorly-written romance

Historia
Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

Dark but seductively relatable, doesn't hold back
Revisado: 10-21-16
Hard to listen to at parts, but the cynicism doesn't feel forced and the darker aspects still seem like depictions of genuine people. I was impressed that there was also character development in the protagonist, but not an unrealistic fairy tale ending that would have done the rest of the book discredit. An impressively convoluted storyline, and a fascinating read.
