Historia
Computer engineers use 'chaos monkey' software to wreak havoc and test system robustness. Similarly, tech entrepreneurs like Antonio García Martínez are society's chaos monkeys - their innovations disrupt every aspect of our lives, from transportation (Uber) and holidays (Airbnb) to television (Netflix) and dating (Tinder) - all in search of the perfect business miracle. Describing himself as 'high strung, fast talking, and wired on a combination of caffeine, fear, and greed at all times', García Martínez left Wall Street to make his fortune in Silicon Valley.

Doesn’t feel like a Michael Connelly book
Revisado: 11-25-19
Only far down the book, as much as 70% into it does it begin to feel like a Michael Connelly novel when psychological profiling comes into play. It seems as though it’s been ghost written. Though still not such a bad listen.

Being an Indian I was proud of India’s amazing dominance in generics. A few years back most of these pharma firms were hit with FDA notices. We simply thought they were problems of growth. Little did we know the large scale subterfusion and manipulation going on. Scary.

Not much of a fan of Nike's overpriced goods (at least in India) Knight's story is captivating and brutally honest. I am now a fan and will wear Nike products with pride!

Historia
Dan Brown’s new novel, Inferno, features renowned Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon and is set in the heart of Europe, where Langdon is drawn into a harrowing world centred around one of history’s most enduring and mysterious literary masterpieces. As Dan Brown comments: "Although I studied Dante’s Inferno as a student, it wasn't until recently, while researching in Florence, that I came to appreciate the enduring influence of Dante's work on the modern world."

Far-fetched but relevant concept
Revisado: 10-21-14
More James Bondish than usual with Langdon getting out of improbable situations. However, the concept of over use of the planet's resources due to overpopulation has been the worry of generations since Malthus. Man has, however, figured out a way to stay ahead of the threat of over population till now and probably will continuously innovate to do just that. Still, malignant genetic manipulations are a red light ahead and quite a possible scenario. Towards the end I was just waiting for the book to get over.

Historia
Jon Willing was just a teenager when he and his buddies Augie and Ben stole a fortune in drug money. Brazen with youth and stoned out of their gourds, they thought they had the perfect plan for getting away with it. They were wrong. Twenty-five years later, Jon’s marriage is in ruins, his kids are virtual strangers, and the recession has decimated his finances. When he finds Augie murdered in Vegas, Jon knows his past has risen from the grave to grab him by the throat. Now Jon Willing faces a choice: run to a paradise of wine and women and endless sunshine or confront the demons from his past and fight for what’s left of his imperfect suburban life.

Interesting concept
Revisado: 08-12-14
It took a while to get into the book almost 25-30% of the way through and I was almost going to return it. But then the book picked up. More than the story of retribution (which was enjoyable), it was the psychological aspects of relationships that the protagonist had that were more enjoyable.

Historia
Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten. The Fault in Our Stars is insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw. It brilliantly explores the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

Depressing and exhilarating
Revisado: 03-25-13
The world of a cancer victim is certain drawn well and empathy with the characters is at a very high level throughout. But you just know that this is not going to end well and truly it is the little victories of the characters along the way that make this book worth the read. Also its a bit of a chick-lit, so as a guy it may be a bit too nice sometimes.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

Interesting premise
Revisado: 03-25-13
Loved it but had a few reservations. (1) A scenario where the state is all powerful and controls the lives of "ordinary" people is a scare tactic that was unnecessary and (2) that little kids as small as 8 and 10 have the ability to change the world is a little far-fetched. All the same, I enjoyed listening to it and would still recommend it for its interesting take on the future and wars
