Yes, it's s book about earthworms. I thought I knew a lot about these little creatures, and now know that I didn't know the half of it! There is history, how-to, trivia, and even villainy in this book. A delightful, educational, light listen!

This is the third Sam Kean book I've listened to. While I'll admit zoning out through some of the more technical parts, the stories were still interesting and enlightening. I definitely have a more thorough understanding of the periodic table now, but I won't be changing my life's work to the pursuit of new elements anytime soon

I've now read most of this series and I have to say this was without a doubt my favorite. Although it was lengthy, I didn't want it to end. Loved the history and the characters. I find myself pulling for Kristo and his BF comrades. I've listened to literally hundreds of audible books and this is the first time I've ever rated or reviewed. Thats how strongly I feel about this great piece of espionage literature. But, my main reason for submitting this is to heap praise--that's right - heap, on George Guidall. He's without a doubt the best narrator, especially for these works. Even his women characters sound believable, something I thought impossible. Amazing. His mastery of the various languages and dialects he employs is spot on and I've heard many others who could not pull this off. He and Patrick Tull are the best narrators. IMHO.

The Suspicions of Mr Whicher Audiolibro Por Kate Summerscale arte de portada

Outstanding listen!

This was an outstanding book! The story is fascinating, and the author provides a good deal of history that is both pertinent and adds depth to the story. So many books are only half understood because readers of the modern day do not understand the customs and details of the time in which the book is set. This author has provided both a fascinating tale and enough historical detail so that the tale can be truly appreciated. I highly recommend this book.

Good story but ...

The underlying story behind Death at the Priory has everything that a good mystery needs -- sex, love, and murder. The first part of this book definitely draws you in. However, toward the middle to end, the focus shifts from the story of the murder to a first person account of the author's investigation and details about how he ultimately "solved" the murder! It ruined the whole book for me, and the author comes off sounding quite pompous! It is as if the book is no longer about the intriguing murder, but suddenly about the author! Particularly if you are a fan of these sorts of books and may have listened to The Suspicions of Mr. Wicher first, this book will disappoint.
