Historia
When Margaret and her husband Hal bought the large Victorian house on Hawthorn Street—for sale at a surprisingly reasonable price—they couldn’t believe they finally had a home of their own. Then they discovered the hauntings. Every September, the walls drip blood. The ghosts of former inhabitants appear, and all of them are terrified of something that lurks in the basement. Most people would flee. Margaret is not most people. Margaret is staying.

This Is Just an Awful Book
Revisado: 02-23-25
I stuck with it because I was too far into it not to and because I kept hoping it would get better. It didn’t. Horror isn’t my genre so I don’t know how or why I chose this in the first place but even if it were my jam? This story is long, poorly developed and, in a word? Boring. Avoid.

The author’s arrogance
Revisado: 03-08-24
I bought this book because I thought it would contain interesting perspective and insight into the political situation in which the United States and the world finds itself today. What the book turned out to be is a rambling collection of self-aggrandizing stories that offered no insight and weren’t even interesting enough to make it worth your time as an autobiographical piece. It is not read by the author, and the person who does read it never really connects, or at least did not connect with me. And the words he’s reading are the disconnected, indulgent ramblings of a self important, extraordinarily arrogant political hanger-on. I have rarely been as disappointed in a book from a source I much admire as I was in this one. I admire the American Spectator Magazine, and it was they who promoted the book. Even if you agree with the political positions taken by the Spectator, you do not need to waste hours of your life, listening to this arrogant man’s ramblings about himself

Great story idea, amateurishly written
Revisado: 10-26-23
I love a good cozy mystery, and I liked the outline of the story in this one enough to buy it. But as written, it comes across with the sort of breathless emotionally, creating narrative of a junior high school girls diary. The tiniest inconvenience send the protagonist reeling as though the world ended. And even smaller measure of success, since were soaring to the moon as though life will be perfect forever. I felt badly for the woman who had to read it. She does a fine job, but she had to feel like she was reading some 14-year-old girls diary.

Historia
When builders discover a human skeleton during a renovation of a café, they call in archeologist Dr. Ruth Galloway, who is preoccupied with the threatened closure of her department and by her ever-complicated relationship with DCI Nelson. The bones turn out to be modern—the remains of Emily Pickering, a young archaeology student who went missing in 2002. Suspicion soon falls on Emily’s Cambridge tutor and also on another archeology enthusiast who was part of the group gathered the weekend before she disappeared—Ruth’s friend Cathbad.

I Couldn’t Finish It
Revisado: 08-19-23
The overview of this book when it showed up as Audible Deal of the Day was intriguing enough to spend the $4 for it. Unfortunately, the story description was the best part. The story itself is disjointed, confusing, awkwardly read with accents that are supposed to differentiate the characters but are indistinguishable from each other and worst of all? It’s flat-out boring. I want to care about the murdered girl but after five hours of invested time? I only wanted the experience to end - so I ended it and quit the book. I recommend you express route to the same point by not purchasing it in the first place.

Historia
For over a decade, philosopher and energy expert Alex Epstein has predicted that any negative impacts of fossil fuel use on our climate will be outweighed by the unique benefits of fossil fuels to human flourishing--including their unrivaled ability to provide low-cost, reliable energy to billions of people around the world, especially the world’s poorest people. And contrary to what we hear from media “experts” about today’s “renewable revolution” and “climate emergency,” reality has proven Epstein right.

Everyone should read/listen to this book
Revisado: 02-18-23
Mr. Epstein presents reasoned, cogent, critically thought out & researched and highly defensible positions regarding how the current campaign against fossil fuels is a road to human degradation. If you believe in the widely reinforced mantra that fossil fuels are evil and easily replaced by renewables like wind and solar? You especially need to hear what Epstein has to say.

Love these books & Performances
Revisado: 01-03-23
These books are extremely well written, the characters are well developed and the plot lines believable and far from obvious. I would devour them on my Kindle but I am SO glad that I bought them on Audible instead. Joel Froomkin is a MASTER performer in this medium. His range of accents, dialects and genders as he moves smoothly from perfect voice to perfect voice is simply stunning. I would up taking 2+ hour walks simply so I could listen uninterrupted to these books. I am immediately checking the Audible store to see what else TP Fielden has written, what else Joel Froomkin has read/performed and hopefully - what they’ve done together. GET THIS SERIES!
