The best book I have read in a long time.
Such insights, such wisdom.
Rhythm and Regulation, Adversity and asking the question : what happened to you , not what’s wrong with you.
Stepping out of your story and into your future. Forgiveness, Doing the ok work to heal the wounds of the past (and release the emotional residue), rather than just contending with other the symptoms alone
This book took me a month to read and digest, taking copious notes in my journal, and to absorb the message. I am glad it found me on my life journey.
The gifts it bears and imparts has been a revelation .
Thank you Oprah and Thank you Doctor Perry.
Amongst other things, It has given me a map and a compass to navigate the meaning of connectedness (relationships) to people and my journey to self-compassion, better.

so many wonderful gems of wisdom, so many insights…

It’s been a feast, it’s a treasure trove.
Bring your wheelbarrow & Shovel or a truck, and take all the gems you can carry for whatever phase of self-awareness and understanding you are in life.

Sincerely

This book has been so helpful. It contains a plethora of meaningful and useful insights, but more importantly, were the nuggets around sustainable self-management from a holistic perspective ie: emotion + mind + body + (even slightly spirit).

The message of Attention management is more apt for dealing with today’s life reality around focus, than that which classic time-management methodologies cover. Indeed, time management would probably dock the Attention management topic into the realm of discipline and consistency. However, we are emotional-based beings and not machines; so, there is an emotional component to goal achievement, or, the attainment of our significant results, and I believe Attention Management addressed this aspect of the equation in spades.

I am a fan of the works from authors such as Chris Bailey: « Hyperfocus », David Allen : « Getting Things Done » , Brian Tracy « Master your time master your life», HBR’s : « On Managing Yourself », and Benjamin P Hardy's «Your ideal future ». These works look at the management of our focus , time management, self-management, and the science of goal attainment.

What Attention management adds into the mix are insights that helps connect the dots from a holistic (daily habits) perspective; ie: how to manage our "muscle of attention" (which is an essential element to sustainable goal attainment), and this, without abandoning self-care, or, deriding ourselves, in the process.

Awareness is the greatest change agent, and the starting point for achieving changes in our lives is having the desire to do so in the first place; coupled with the willpower, and tools (ie: being mentally equipped with ideas, to bring about the perspective-shifts required to administer the primary antidote described in the book). As one author put it and I paraphrase : Habit is what gets you started, but it is motivation (from experiencing the concrete pay-offs) that keeps you going.

The book has armed me with the tools (a methodology ) to effect this change.

I look forward to compounding the 1% shifts that will result through the practice of Attention management, into a sizable change in the quality of my life experience ( including more progress on my goals, and more consistent attainment of my significant results), moving forward; and thereby reaping the equities of this decision over time.

It's a circa 1.5hr audio book listen, to useful and relevant information delivered by an author with a pleasant voice.

All I can say to that is that : "I am sure glad I did".

Enjoy y'all.

I was skeptical and don’t really buy into all of this energy Mumbo-jumbo .

However, couldn’t understand certain stuff that was going on with me for a couple of years and needed some answers to help figure out some pattern i was seeing repeating in my life ie: one of which was attracting narcissist.

anyway the research led to the work of Katherine Woodward Thomas , David Hawkins (letting go) , and now this book.

I learnt from this book that I am an empath. Finally, at least I can understand how I can read people’s aura, malicious intent, and I have such acute precognition in my relationships sometime it feels unreal.

Anyway, The book helped to feel less weird. I am moving on to “Toxic Magnetism” by Kara Laurence and thereafter, to the “Relationship dismount” by Renard Williams .

I have been doing So much learning of late including “Shadow-work” and it’s helped awaken and unlock certain aspects of my awareness, bringing me to understanding Empathy, which Brené Brown describes as follows: Empathy is the foundation of love and justice.

I will hopefully arrest the pattern regarding attracting narcissists and breaking up with them thereafter once i read Kara’s book.

Anyway, Empath healing was helpful to me. It’s one more piece of puzzle to complete the picture.

I hope you find value in it as well .

A beginners guide to Game 101.
The nuts and bolts you need, delivered in a natural non-convoluted way.
Similar to the Practical advice in the "bachelor pad economics" .
On to the "book of pook" by RoyC , and then to Alan Roger curry's work on direct game.

3.) Temperament : Primitives & Ambassadors & need to Secure functioning and mood modulation.
4.) Grounds for breaking-up: Violation of trust, Abuse, etc

An Important book on successfully Navigating intimate realtionships. I wish I knew this stuff in my 20's. I would have made better choices.

I am glad I know it now in my 40's but only discovered it after a few failed relationships and a dating hiatus for 2years, while I took stock to figured out the repeating patterns in my relationhip .

this knowledge gives me tools I never had before and an edge w.r.t. the likelihood of being successful in my next intimate relationship.

Thanks for sharing these valuable insights

Health and how to wear that Crown daily

it is said that good health is like a crown on a healthy man's head that only the sick man can see.

in the Audiobook , inflammation, dis-ease, stress, eating imbalances , and it's impact on sleep, general health, and one's quality of life are explored.

I picked up a few tips on the importance of fasting, in giving the body a break and a chance to detox and cleanse itself.

I would recommend this book to people who are tired of wrestling with weight gain, who get suddenly fatigued from eating carbohydrates, who are trying to pick-up clues as to how to get fitter and nimble, and are young in age but somehow feel older in their bodies, and are looking for tips to improve their quality of health and life.

I will be re-reading this book at some point, as I read it in one sitting, the first time. Investing 1hr in this Audiobook is nothing once you realise that you trade the hour for a lifetime of lessons learnt about working ones way back to good health, letting go of unhealthy patterns, and course-correcting ones nutrition choices, in order to stay healthy.

another rule in winning in the game of life is longevity, simply survive, and don't die prematurely from making bad food choices or overeating more than your body needs, all of which amounts to atomic eating habits that don't serve us in the long run .

there are references and recommendations shared regarding other peoples work, that influenced his learning and growth in this area. I would suggest to follow-up on these and to learn more, in order to live better and thrive in the game of life.

cheers

Useful tips from a man's philosophy on leadership .
many useful concepts and nuggets:
• Ready-fire-aim.
• Eliminating peoples excuses for doing lousy work such as : I am underpaid, I am under-titled, or we dont have the right type of talent or title .
• Picking your fight: To Fight the "Them" and "Us" lines that separates people in a company.

Reading this book was inspired by watching this TedTalk YouTube video on leadership.

Understanding the difference between management and leadership is critical:

I found this book useful and informative, it confirmed certain beliefs I have held and provided a certain framework of principle to understanding how to practise leadership.

I would recommend you read this book if you are on your journey to formulating your own philosophy / pradigm-shift on leadership and o how to lead.
