REALLY Enjoyed it!
Revisado: 06-05-23
Love Jenoff’s books, this story was engaging and kept me anticipating when I could listen next. Be sure to listen to the author’s notes at the end: I’ve read many WWII historical fiction books and this is the first time I’ve heard about “the 20th train”. (I’m just stunned by this information and will be reading more on the subject.) The characters are well developed, the story gets you hooked early and the suspense holds you to the end. I empathize with Hannah’s character and others like her who during unimaginable circumstances had to choose between bad and worse and ends up labeled as a collaborator. Those who risked everything to help the allies take out evil based on hate. Love never fails

Historia
"I’m James Taylor and I’m a professional autobiographer", says the celebrated folk singer at the start of this tender audio memoir. Through decades of music by one of the best-selling musicians of all time, who created classics like "Fire and Rain" and "Carolina in My Mind", James Taylor has doled out his history in the poetry of his work. Taylor says his early life is, "the source of many of my songs", and Break Shot is a tour of his first 21 years in rich, new detail.

Ashes to Beauty
Revisado: 07-20-20
What a story. James Taylor goes through more fire and rain in his first 21 years than many do in a lifetime. In many ways, the fire and rain that led to tiny decisions, along with musical friends and a bit of luck, has led our beloved JT to be the modern day troubadour that is a part of our own musical history, our own coming of age.

Inspiring and Heroic
Revisado: 04-28-19
To say that Irene Gut Updyke is a WWII “hero” is a bold statement, almost no one has heard of this small, young, unassuming Polish girl. Yet she lived in a time that modern Americans cannot understand and the world can hardly grasp. Yet to survive the horrors perpetrated on the Jewish people at the hands of the Natzi regime requires extraordinary heroism. This young teen who thought more of her friends and family than she did for her own self preservation takes extraordinary character and fortitude. This story is told with the depths of emotion that you feel you are standing next to Irene in the retelling of her journey. How she suffered personally, you will also feel even as a quiet observer in listening to her story. This story will impact you, and it should. Let us never forget. Thank you Irene, Jennifer and Hope for having the courage to give this story life & meaning in the 21st century.
