I'm not too proud to admit that finding Mr. Right involves swiping right. Right? Welcome to dating in avocado toastland. Here I am, on my first blind date, ever, courtesy of a smartphone app and my two annoying best friends. So what is Chris "Fletch" Fletcher doing, walking across the room, looking at his phone like he's pattern matching a picture to find a real person he's never met before? Oh. Oh, no. The guy I drop-kicked in seventh grade cannot be my blind date. The guy who earned me this infernal nickname.

SO GOOD!!
Revisado: 02-07-20
Having got to already read this book I already knew that the story was amazing and hits all the spots that you expect from Amy Daws if you have read or listened to any of her other books.
So I just want to spend some time talking about how well done Will Watt and Charlotte Cole did with this audio.
Both of them give performances worthy of alllll the awards. Their work together as Mac and Freya is totally on point all the way through. However they both shine a little extra in a few chapters that they each have to carry on their own.
There is a point where a group of women are having an emotionally charged conversation and Cole does all of them beautifully with complete easy. I always like when the narrators work hard at giving each character their own voices and don't ever lose those changes even when the scenes are quick and packed with a lot of back and forth so very well done this time!
And oh Will Watt how I love you so! And love when you have emotional material to work with. Late in this book there is a chapters where Mac has to have some very difficult scenes with Roan and his grandfather and Will's ability to go from a Scottish accent to a South African and back or from younger to older voices is a talent!
Thank you to Amy Will and Charlotte for working so hard and sharing this audio with all of us. It's a true gift.

Emotional Roller Coaster - Worth it!
Revisado: 07-05-19
Oh man I wasn't ready for the emotional roller coaster that this book took me on. I probably should of been after Part 1. You always know from the start that Charlie's story and Charlie and Sean's story isn't going to be an easy one but talk about a ride! And I mean that in the best way possible. No this book isn't a fun joyful ride with just a few bumps along the way. It's stressful in spots and ugly cry inducing in some. It even made me yell out loud in a few spots while listening. Like what the hell are you putting them through now?! sort of yelling. But it's all worth it in the end. It really is.
The author tackles some huge issues in both of these books that make up Becoming Charlie and while I can't say that I've ever been through any of them up close and personal I feel like she does a masterful job of putting the reader/listener into the head space that Charlie is in while she's going through these things or watching them happen around her. And while sometimes you want to yell at her to stop throwing so much at this sweet amazing young woman who's just trying to find her way; as the author points out at one point.... That's life. You may wish that things stop getting thrown at you. That bad things stop happening around and to you , but wishing and hoping don't stop things from happening.
I do think though that the message at the end of the roller coaster ride that you take with Charlie, Sean, Raven and the rest of the characters is that no matter what life keeps throwing at you it will get better. There is always hope even if you're at a point where you can't see it in the moment. It is there and life is always turning. Just hang on and enjoy the ride.
As before the narrator does a wonderful job of putting you into this world with these characters so you feel like you're there and not just listening to someone read the words to you.

On and off the field he’s at the top of his game. Roan respects hard work, dedication, and follow through. He’s not a one-and-done kind of man, and he’s far from being done with Allie Harris. One sexy night and two years later, Allie’s job brings her back to town. An opportunity for the perfect replay Roan has been fantasizing about since they slept together.

A Completely Brilliant Audio Performance by ALL!
Revisado: 06-27-19
I love audio books. I love how the voice actors if doing their job well bring a story to life in your head in a way that you almost feel like you're watching the movie play out in your mind not just hearing someone read you a story. This is exactly what you get with this multi cast narration of Amy Daws Payback.
I was already a huge fan of Erin Mallon, Will Watt and Charlotte Cole. They narrator some of my faves but this was my first time listening to Aaron Shedlock and I am so thrilled that I did. He did an outstanding job with Roan and the South African accent that the character requires.
All four memebers of the cast do a wonderful job of letting you just get lost in the story and feel like your in this Harris Brothers world with them. Weather it's sitting in the middle of a Harris Family dinner with all of them volleying back and forth (Kudos to Lottie and Will for giving every extra character they have in these scenes their own voice thats easy to tell apart) or if it's in the middle of Tower Park pitch with Allie and Roan when all the build up in the book comes to a head. The amazing thing about audio and this audio is that the cast is truly performing and bringing it to life!
Well done and thank you for letting us all hear it!

My name is Charlie, and I'm invisible. Well, not literally, but until one of the most popular guys at Eden High saved my life, nobody even knew I existed. Sean Reese gave me more than my life back that night. He gave me friendship. And maybe, just maybe, I can save him, too. Will he still be my friend when he finds out my secret?

One of my Best Listens of the Year
Revisado: 06-16-19
It's been a while since I read or listened to just any straight up YA stories. I think as we get older we tell ourselves that we've out grown YA. I am here to tell you though that this was one of the best books I've listened to this year. I want to thank the author for allowing me to listen for free in exchange for this honest review.
I instantly fell in love with Charlie and Sean. Both lead characters are complicated and layered but completely likable at the same time.
The story takes twist and turns that I can honestly say I didn't see coming. You know early on that they both have secrets that they are scared to share with the world let alone with each other but I didn't guess either one.
Their bond is swift and strong but doesn't feel at all out of place or forced. You truly buy into the idea that these are just two souls that needed each other and found the one person in this world that can both help them and still let each other be themselves completely when everyone else wants something from them or to change them.
There is a bit of a mystery and a cliffhanger at the end of Part 1 and I can't wait to get into Part 2 to see where this is going!
This was my first listen of the narrator and I found her very enjoyable to listen to. She does well with both the female and male voices and the flow of the whole thing is great.

She's not a quiet librarian. My landlord is infuriating. He's uptight and rigid, right down to those dress shirts that do nothing to hide the muscle underneath. Sure, I never read the tenant's agreement. I have now. In fact, I've memorized it and I'm going to use it to my advantage while staying within the bounds of my contract. Is it my fault that those little decorative touches drive Charlie nuts? And who can resist purchasing a few vulgar gnomes to enhance the landscape?

Cute & Fun Listen
Revisado: 06-12-19
I received a code for a free listen from the narrator in exchange for an honest review.
While the story itself was a bit predictable I totally ended up liking it more than I thought I would. Charlie and Evie played off each other very well and I found myself rooting for their HEA very early on. For Evie to bring out the fun in Charlie and for him to show her a stable side that she wasn't use to.
While I found the narration very slow at normal speed It was very enjoyable once I changed the speed.

When romance novelist Kate Smith suddenly gets writer's block as she's beginning the final installment of her international best-selling erotic Bed 'n Breakfast series, she'll do pretty much anything to get her groove back. Like sneak into a Tire Depot waiting room because her words flow there just like complimentary coffee - smooth, sweet, and scorchingly hot. She manages to fly under the radar until the rugged and charming mechanic, Miles Hudson, notices the quirky redhead slinking in and out of the employees-only entrance. But she's way too intriguing to blow the whistle on.

The Story and & Audi are EVERYTHING!
Revisado: 05-12-18
I loved this audio so much I am not even sure how to put how much I liked it into words without just sounding like a total dork LOL This was my first time listening to Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton together (first time ever to listen to Teddy actually) and they make a flawless pair and totally bring Kate and Miles to life even more then I could of hoped! This story is full of heart, heat and hilarity! Amy Daws does a masterful job of bringing these characters to life in her words and then the narrators take it all to another level. It was a true pleasure to lose myself in the world of Tire Depot and Kate finding her very own "book boyfriend"! (It's everyone's dream right? If you love a good rom com with super well done audio this is a MUST Check out!

Great Story with Good twist and turns!
Revisado: 09-21-17
Would you try another book from Sarah J. Pepper and Amy Daws and/or Valerie Gilbert?
I am a huge fan of Amy Daws so it's a def yes there and definitely from Sarah too. I will listen to Valerie again for sure. She has a great reading voice and it's very smooth and easy to listen to. My one complaint and it is a small one is that there wasn't always enough of a difference between her female voices and her male voices. Occasionally it felt like she slipped into the other one when she was still suppose to be in which ever. It wasn't a constant thing which is maybe why I noticed it more the few times it happened.
