Historia
Norman Mailer's Pulitzer Prize-winning and unforgettable classic about convicted killer Gary Gilmore now in audio. Arguably the greatest book from America's most heroically ambitious writer, The Executioner's Song follows the short, blighted life of Gary Gilmore who became famous after he robbed two men in 1976 and killed them in cold blood. After being tried and convicted, he immediately insisted on being executed for his crime. To do so, he fought a system that seemed intent on keeping him alive long after it had sentenced him to death.

Love the book in spite of the narrator.

The book is fascinating. I'm still listening. I have to say that I really do not like the narrator. He puts the accent or the stress on verbs as he's reading. In my last sentence read "as he's READING". Very distracting.

Historia
The 17th century was marked by multiple pro-democratic revolutions exploding in both hemispheres. In Europe and its neighbors to the east, border-changing wars were fought incessantly. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the underlying premises of political, governmental and social structures within several European and Asian states were shaken to the core after centuries of royalty and one-family rule.

What disappointed you about Tsar Nicholas II and the End of the Romanov Dynasty?
It wasn't even really a book in my estimation. It is a little over an hour long. It is a listing of Russian rulers. No information about any of them.
Has Tsar Nicholas II and the End of the Romanov Dynasty turned you off from other books in this genre?
No. I love history.
