Rambling word salad. Inauthentic characters, which is something considering the book is semi-autobiographical. The narrator’s southern accent is like fingernails on a blackboard.

A tragic, beautiful, riveting and heartbreakingly personal story of schizophrenia. Excellent narration by the author.

Of course a Dickens masterpiece but Richard Armitage brings it to delightful life. His reading and voicing of so many distinct characters is brilliant. The length seemed daunting but it held my interest throughout and 35+ hours later I was sorry for it to end

The author’s delivery is not actorly, and was criticized in other reviews, but I found it powerfully moving to hear this beautifully written memoir in Angelou’s own voice. Highly recommend!
