interesting approach to law

the book sounds like it was recorded in a public bathroom with a squeaking door constantly sounding in the background but its audibility is fine; the topic is novel to someone who takes interest in economics but knows nothing about law. some of the exposition would be better looked at in writing but the book does mention some associated pdfs that are freely available

the book includes a large number of quizzes and exercises and makes the audiobook format awkward; otherwise the content is interesting

This book provides no actionable advice and most of the claims made in it were either obviously false when it was written or proven false since. The author is a biologist who seems to think her expertise in one field carries to others like economy, politics, and psychology. The book should be used in first year philosophy classes for how many different types of logical fallacies it has examples of.

Great book, lazy audio port

The book and narration are great. It feels more rigorous than other books by the same author and it's more cohesive than the generic-sounding title might imply.

But the book is split up in roughly one-hour chunks, erroneously called chapters, that don't match the book's chapters. How lazy can the publisher be to not even bother to get the table of contents right? It makes it impossible to go back to sections you want to revisit because there'd be no way of knowing where they are.

Lots of interesting bits but overall it covers topics in a pretty superficial way. The history parts are the best; the chapters on psychology and particularly economics are embarrassingly bad, the author should stick to what they know well.

The basics of economics are easy to grasp, yet so many people seem to overcomplicate them. Sowell explains them here beautifully.

This works surprisingly well as an audiobook! It contains an impressive amount of information. Great for all software engineers, but especially those with a bit of experience.

The title makes it sound like there was some clever scheme but really all that happened was the CIA thought the potential payoff was so great that they ignored every red flag pointing to the outcome.

...for he has been trapped under a rock since the 1950s. If you were born after 1920, you may not get much from this book.

More seriously, the content is thin and spread verbosely. Expect mind-numbing bits like "the way you act, behave, and comport yourself." The William Shatner performance of the reader makes it worse; the author should have done it.
