The whole series… and everyone in it
Revisado: 02-12-25
I have thoroughly enjoyed every book in this series, many of them several times over. The characters, the wit, comic conversations between characters, everyone who has assisted Ms Taylor the exceptional reading by Zara Ram and of course the brilliant, and likely little peculiar mind of Jodi Taylor. If you have not read/listened to every single one of these books I envy you. Amazing adventures await you. All I have to ask is more, more, more and could you please all come to San Diego Comicon. I promise you will have a good time

Orphan, refugee, and soldier-for-hire Asala Sikou doesn't think too much about the end of civilization. Her system's star is dying, and the only person she can afford to look out for is herself. When a ship called the Vela vanishes during what was supposed to be a flashy rescue mission, a reluctant Asala is hired to team up with Niko, the child of a wealthy inner planet's president, to find it and the outer-system refugees on board. But this is no ordinary rescue mission; the Vela holds a secret that places the fate of the universe in the balance....

This is exactly what Science Fiction. Should be
Revisado: 01-11-25
Before I started listening to this book, I saw the one star review. However, I have read work by Soon Ha Lee, Becky Chambers, and River Solomon. They have never disappointed and always intrigued me. This book does what all good sci-fi does. It tells the story of today’s reality from a lens people might better accept it, understand it, and with hope, act. The sound effects are ok but maybe not the best selling point. Robin Miles does an amazing job. This book is well worth your time and money.

All clues lead to London, and so Mildred and company have no choice but to follow her to town. But retrieving a hoard of dragon eggs in the middle of a vast city is no easy task, especially when confronted with such impediments as journalism, pelicans, and a certain Prince Regent.

Extraordinary characters in regular human bodies
Revisado: 01-02-25
I have read all three of these books the first two at least a couple of times. I could listen to them over and over. They are very well written. The lead roles being held by middle age typical people who have been given extraordinary opportunities and grabbing them with both hands.
Zara Ram is one of my favorite readers. I could listen to her for many many hours

Oh my gosh I can’t believe I waited so long to listen to this one
Revisado: 02-24-24
So beautifully written and narrated. The story is beautifully crafted in a way that makes it super hard to turn it off. Only knowing that I didn’t want to say goodbye to the characters kept me from listening to it all in a day. The narration and narrater were a perfect match to the story.
The pain and honesty revealed here are at times too much and not too much. I am so very grateful for the gift of this book

Examining what it means to be vulnerable in love and in art, Sasha offers up an unblinking reckoning with personal traumas amplified by the collective historical traumas of colonialism and genocide that continue to haunt native peoples. Red Paint is an intersectional autobiography of lineage, resilience, and, above all, the ability to heal.

This beautiful and devastating book - part tribal history, part lyric and intimate memoir - should be required for anyone seeking to learn about California Indian history, past and present. Deborah A. Miranda tells stories of her Ohlone Costanoan Esselen family as well as the experience of California Indians as a whole through oral histories, newspaper clippings, anthropological recordings, personal reflections, and poems. The result is a work of literary art that is wise, angry, and playful all at once, a compilation that will break your heart and teach you to see the world anew.

Centuries later, a knight approaches a towering wall of brambles, where the thorns are as thick as your arm and as sharp as swords. He's heard there's a curse here that needs breaking, but it's a curse Toadling will do anything to uphold.

Historia
In present-day California, Eleanor Bennett’s death leaves behind a puzzling inheritance for her two children, Byron and Benny: a black cake, made from a family recipe with a long history, and a voice recording. In her message, Eleanor shares a tumultuous story about a headstrong young swimmer who escapes her island home under suspicion of murder. The heartbreaking tale Eleanor unfolds, the secrets she still holds back, and the mystery of a long-lost child challenge everything the siblings thought they knew about their lineage and themselves.
