Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Beautiful hard and inspiring
Revisado: 11-07-24
Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down and I typically don’t like books about war time, to sad. But his book balanced it all so well. Yes it is sad but it is also beautiful and loving.

Historia
Before a vision of a mysterious "Lady" invited Clark Strand and Perdita Finn to pray the rosary, they were not only uninterested in becoming Catholic but finished with institutional religion altogether. Their main spiritual concerns were the fate of the planet and the future of their children and grandchildren in an age of ecological collapse. But this Lady barely even referred to the Church and its proscriptions. Instead, she spoke of the miraculous power of the rosary to transform lives and heal the planet, and revealed the secrets within the rosary’s prayers and mysteries.

Like a cozy blanket

I really enjoyed learning the authors perspective of the rosary. Their concepts and beliefs rang true to me. I thought I was the only one thinking these things so reading this gave me validation of how I have always felt. Thank you for this gift.

Really enjoyed this sweet sometimes hard historical fiction
Revisado: 03-28-22
I grew up in Central Oregon and new many of the areas the story depicts so it was fun to think of it on how it used to be. The protagonist is a lovely character you grow with through the story and the relationships bloom. I didn’t want the book to end it was a nice escape more me and over all leaves you with a positive feeling

Historia
Ivan is an easygoing gorilla. Living at the Exit 8 Big Top Mall and Video Arcade, he has grown accustomed to humans watching him through the glass walls of his domain. He rarely misses his life in the jungle. In fact, he hardly ever thinks about it at all. Instead, Ivan thinks about TV shows he's seen and about his friends Stella, an elderly elephant, and Bob, a stray dog. But mostly Ivan thinks about art and how to capture the taste of a mango or the sound of leaves with color and a well-placed line.

Historia
Most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but Dr. Yuval Noah Harari breaks the mold with this highly original book. From examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, Sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.

loved it
Revisado: 10-28-19
I am not a typical reader if history books but this book was facinating. Mr Harari presented so much information in an understandable way. I love how the book flowed and kept me intreged by his statements and how they were presented and supported. I can't wait to read it again with my family as it sparks interesting conversations and would be a great book club book as well.
