Historia
Pornography is powerful. Our contemporary culture as been pornified, and it shapes our assumptions about identity, sexuality, the value of women and the nature of relationships. Countless Christian men struggle with the addictive power of porn. But common spiritual approaches of more prayer and accountability groups are often of limited help.

Leans too heavily on theology
Revisado: 11-05-24
Was disappointed at how superficial the information grounded in psychological research was, The book leans too heavily into theology in many of its points, and also makes some really. Road and generalized assumptions. To me, much of this read similarly to something like men are from mars. I found myself thinking , “wait, people actually think that?” in the way the author sets up the foundation for his points, which originated ally had me thinking maybe the book just hasn’t aged well, but all things considered, it’s not that old. Great read I’m sure if you’re looking for something with some credibility to share in a men’s group at church, but little to offer outside of that.

Not the mystery move I thought I was getting
Revisado: 01-02-20
I initially got this thinking it would focus around this kid trying to solve a mystery, but it becomes obvious early in the book that the focus isn’t going to be about solving any crimes. I appreciate the story being told through the perspective of an autistic kid and the adventure that unfolds, but after listening to this with my wife we both felt like we were cheated on what we thought we were getting into. It’s a fine enough story, just know what you’re getting into before buying it.

Six months ago, the world ended. The Baugh Contagion swept across the planet. Its victims were left twitching, adrenalized cannibals that quickly became know as Junkies. Civilization crumbled as people created isolated safe havens to hide from the infected... and the possibly infected. Now, as society nears a tipping point, lives will intersect and intertwine across two days in a desolate city.

Entertaining for what it is
Revisado: 02-14-19
Don’t expect any great character development or story, go into this with the same expectations you’d have turning on a Romero zombie flick. Personally I enjoyed the performances more than the stories themselves, but they were still entertaining to listen to. I would only get this if you have credits burning a hole in your pocket or you see it for sale.

Disappointing, but I’m probably the exception
Revisado: 02-06-19
Maybe my expectations were high after having just come off the Netflix adaptation of the same name, but I found nothing in this story to be creepy. Never was I feeling any sense of dread or on edge as to what would happen next. I feel as though I would have gotten much more out of this book if the “haunting” was more than just the occasional bump in the night. This is probably an entertaining read if you’re easily scared, but if horror is your thing this will probably leave you underwhelmed.

need to be in the right mindset
Revisado: 12-02-16
I just couldn't get into it. the material was interesting and I wanted to like it, but it felt like it was being read from a college student essay. the information was being presented but not in an interesting way. I listened for about 2 hours attempting to give it a solid attempt, eventually I was just skipping around and finally just had to end it.

Linguistics, the study of language, has a reputation for being complex and inaccessible. But here's a secret: There's a lot that's quirky and intriguing about how human language works-and much of it is downright fun to learn about. But with so many potential avenues of exploration, it can often seem daunting to try to understand it. Where does one even start?
