Loved the Story and Narrator
Revisado: 12-12-21
I could not stop listening to this book! Ignore the reviews by readers who say they didn’t understand it or didn’t like the ending. Just be aware that it is NOT a mystery or thriller. It’s a fascinating look into marriage, generational differences and family relationships. If you go into it with the right expectations, you’ll love it.

Historia
When her father dies, Kay Wilkinson can’t cry. Over 10 years, Alzheimer’s had steadily eroded this erudite man into a paranoid lunatic. Surely one’s own father passing should never come as such a relief. Both medical professionals, Kay and her husband Cyril have seen too many elderly patients in similar states of decay. Although healthy and vital in their early 50s, the couple fears what may lie ahead. Determined to die with dignity, Cyril makes a modest proposal.

Not her best
Revisado: 07-28-21
I usually love anything by Lionel Shriver, but this one is a bit too intent on delivering a message rather than providing entertainment. I actually agree with the viewpoint sh is trying to convey, but I was looking for a good story, not a treatise on end of life decision making.

Brilliant, but Not for Everyone
Revisado: 07-19-19
I’m a Herman Koch fan and I I loved this book, perhaps even more than The Dinner. However, if you don’t want to hear a general practice doctor musing on his duties, including some graphic descriptions of the less than lovely aspects of the human body, don’t buy this book.Similarly, if you have qualms about assisted suicide or European sexual mores. This book isn’t for you. That said, if you’re still curious about this book, buy it!!! It’s Herman Koch at his best.

Historia
Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump are the self-styled prince and princess of America. Their swift, gilded rise to extraordinary power in Donald Trump’s White House is unprecedented, unconstitutional, and dangerous. In Kushner, Inc., investigative journalist Vicky Ward digs beneath the myth the couple has created that depicts themselves as the voices of reason in an otherwise crazy presidency and reveals that Jared and Ivanka are not just the president’s chief enablers, they are, like him, disdainful of rules, of laws, and of ethics.

Seems anti- Semitic at times; poorly narrated
Revisado: 03-21-19
I am a Democrat who would never vote for Trump or do business with the Kushners. Despite this, I was disturbed and at times disgusted by this book’s undisguised anti- Semitism. The author again and again harps on the Kushner’s Jewish religion, when it has nothing to do with their business ethics. Poorly narrated by a British narrator who speaks in a pompous attempt at an upper class British accent and mispronounces American names and Jewish words. Author is a Brit who recently became An American citizen. Many times, she “ quotes “ American sources using expressions which are distinctly British and not generally used by Americans. This makes me wonder if she really even spoke to these “ sources”. Don’t waste your credit on tho book.

This is a great book for those who enjoy a quirky story and veiled social commentary. I enjoyed the story line and the performance. Refreshingly subtle and sardonic, as I’ve come to expect from his author.

Historia
From the Sunday Times top ten bestselling author of The Psychopath Test, a captivating and brilliant exploration of one of our world's most underappreciated forces: shame. 'It's about the terror, isn't it?' 'The terror of what?' I said. 'The terror of being found out.' For the past three years, Jon Ronson has travelled the world meeting recipients of high-profile public shamings. The shamed are people like us - people who, say, made a joke on social media that came out badly, or made a mistake at work.
