Historia
Reeling from the news dropped on his desk days earlier, Sheriff Elven Hallie is left questioning everyone and everything in his life. But when a former deputy is burned to death, Elven must push aside the turmoil in his personal life to catch the killer. As if that wasn’t enough, new faces from the Starcher clan enter his county with vengeance in their eyes for Corbin’s death. Paranoid, angry, and directionless, Elven must lean on those closest to him to bring a ruthless murderer to justice. But that’s easier said than done when it’s those closest to him who he trusts the least.

Unexpected!
Revisado: 09-26-24
Another good installment in this series. Although sometimes I tire of the Sheriff's arrogance I put aside my irritation to hear the end of the story. Good writing to be able to bring out reactions and emotions towards the characters. I keep waiting for Hollis's redemption. Maybe in book 7?

Historia
When human bones are found beneath an old chapel in the woods, evidence suggests the remains could be linked to the decades-old case of missing teen Annalise Jansen. Homicide detective Jane Munro—pregnant and acutely attuned to the preciousness of life—hopes the grim discovery will finally bring closure to the girl’s family. But for a group of Annalise’s old friends, once dubbed the Shoreview Six by the media, it threatens to expose a terrible pledge made on an autumn night forty-seven years ago.

Great twist!
Revisado: 04-26-24
I truly enjoyed the narrator. As I listened to the story it became easy to recognize which character was speaking. The story pulled me in, and good character development. Ending tied all the storyline up for the victims in this book. Looking forward to the next one!

Unexpected
Revisado: 04-11-24
This author told a great story and I enjoyed getting to know the characters. At first I was taken aback at the ease with which all the lies were told but was then drawn in because I was rooting for the main character and wanted life to work out for her. Nice dropping of clues to lead a person to a wrong conclusion! I appreciated the variety in the story and how the loose ends were tied up. Ready for another adventure with this author.

Heartfelt Story with a bit of History
Revisado: 02-26-24
Great narration! Pulled me into those Appalachian hills and the lives of the people. Wonderful character development. It was hard in places to listen to the unforgiving hardness of those times but heartwarming to hear the resourcefulness, loyalty, and perseverance of the people.

Fight, Flight, or Fear? Which will win?
Revisado: 01-26-24
I enjoyed getting to know the characters in this book but struggled a bit with the portrayal of the helplessness of some of the characters. It can be difficult to read stories of trauma and abuse but I did appreciate the journey and the resolution of the story. Looking forward to the next in the series.

Historia
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

Good story and Narration
Revisado: 12-19-22
The writer wove a good story and I enjoyed the development of the characters. I appreciated the twists the story would take and the narration was great. I just felt the ending, although told well was hard to believe. Would recommend it as a good mystery and will seek out more books from this author.
