Best book Keeland has ever written.

Yes, I said that and I mean it. Argue about it amongst yourselves because I don’t want to hear it.
The character developments and slowly revealed backstories make this a great tale. It’s obvious that a lot of research into the hotel business other aspects of of the story were well done. Despite the 2 protagonists disparaging lives, they evolve within the context of their circumstance of being thrown together to run an aged hotel.
It’s a complex and delicate story that is worth your time.

I don’t usually write reviews but I do read them. This story had me howling with laughter. The character development and interactions are so well done. I definitely recommend this one. It’s great!

Outstanding!

Superb story told with all the inflections and grace that Streep can bring. Great character development too.
I normally don’t care for books that jump around in time. I get lost too easily in many of them. Tom Lake has a natural rhythm that makes the story flow.
I strongly recommend this one!

Didn’t expect to like the reader

Ran 4 homicides concurrently and the narrative kept them clear and distinct. We’ll written and we’ll read. The accents were critical to keeping the story straight.

Great story but not a rom-com

Firstly, this is a great book. The story and characters are well developed and Susan’s research into the world of opera is impressive. I was rooting for a convoluted ending that the heroine figures out and this did not disappoint. Secondly, I don’t consider this a rom-com. There were some cute lines and a giggle or two but I long for the days of Sugar Beth’s rapier wit and Bobby Tom’s good ol’ boy throw-away lines that had me cracking up. So many of Susan’s books have had me laughing until tears ran down my leg. Not so with the last two.
That said, I love her writing style and characters so I’ll buy the next book, and the next and… you get it.
