Wonderful, whimsical, witty
Revisado: 10-28-22
I’ve always had a soft spot for magical realism as a writing style. That’s what this reminds me of - “Like Water for Chocolate”, but with much more depth and substance. And I love the last line - not “The” End, “An” End. Beautiful.

Fantastic!
Revisado: 12-11-19
I simply loved this book. Yes, it is very long. But it was worth every minute of listening to be able to understand the life of this amazing founding father and how he saw the world. For anyone who wants to learn about the events and circumstances that led up to the Revolutionary War, and how the major players navigated through it, this book is a must-read! I saw a lot of reviews disliked the narrator, but I thought he was fine and did a good job. He does not do what some narrators of fiction do and make up different voices for each different person speaking. Perhaps that is what turns some people off. But this is a nonfiction book told mainly from the perspective of one individual (Franklin), so I thought the narration was completely appropriate.

I really enjoyed the explanation of this field in a form that the typical layperson can understand. Fascinating!

Historia
The Encyclopedia of Ancient Giants in North America chronicles two distinct waves of giant humans migrating to North America. As early as 7,000 BC, strange people arrived on the North American shores of gigantic size with Neanderthal-looking skulls. Their spread across the American landscape is documented not only by their massive skeletons but by an identical material culture that was found buried with their remains.

Horrible narration and sloppy editing
Revisado: 11-09-16
This is the worst narrator I've ever heard on an audible book. She sounded most of the time like one of those computer voices on your gps unit that tries to sound human but doesn't quite succeed. And she CONSTANTLY mispronounces words. The other issue I have with this book is the incredibly sloppy editing. Every few passages it completely repeats entire paragraphs that I just heard moments before. And occasionally the narrator reads a sentence and then immediately re-reads it, but with different pronunciation of words or different inflection of voice. It's like whoever the editor was just took the raw audio file submitted by the narrator and published it without doing any editing whatsoever. All these issues are highly unfortunate because the content of the book is really interesting and I wanted to hear it. But between the narrator and sloppy editing I was not able to really enjoy the book. :(
