Perfectly Simple
Revisado: 05-02-25
Simple is the beast word I have for it. That's not necessarily a bad thing. It made a good bed time read (listen). The reader had good tone and voiced different characters well. The story was good and held my attention but is not a masterpiece or thinking man's novel. There are no in depth explanations on the science or politics in this world that tells how it was seen as okay for people to own "pets(people)". it's just the story of one written for a younger audience.

Historia
"Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight . . . " So begins the wish that changes everything—for Geppetto, for the Blue Fairy, and for a little puppet named Pinocchio. The Blue Fairy isn't supposed to grant wishes in the small village of Pariva, but something about this one awakens some long-buried flicker within. Perhaps it's the hope she senses beneath the old man's loneliness. Or maybe it's the fact that long ago, before she was the Blue Fairy, she was a young woman named Chiara from this very village, one with a simple wish: to help others find happiness.

Boring
Revisado: 04-27-25
It was to slow, boring, and for what was supposed to be a magical story lacked magic. The characters did do some magic but in a figurative scene it was void. no wounder no whimsy.

Historia
Ashley Perrin is fresh out of college and starting a job as a community liaison for the Third District–the city’s only sector with more alien residents than humans. Ashley’s barely found where the paper clips are kept when she’s beset with constituent complaints–from too much noise at the Annual Lupidian Celebration Parade to a trip-and-fall chicken to a very particular type of alien hornet that threatens the very city itself. And if that’s not terrifying enough, Ashley is next up at the office karaoke night.

Nice and Simple
Revisado: 03-01-25
The story was a little to simple and predictable for my liking. I was able to guess the ending half way in and was just waiting for the story to end. If simple is what your looking for this isn't a bad choice. could even be good for children. The story kept a steady pace and the readed was very clear had a good tone throughout the book.

Nothing explained
Revisado: 10-22-24
The story is a bit dry and nothing is explained. To get it out of the way it's nothing like the show. which follows a family, who as children lived in the haunted house and their lives as adults. The book is about 4 strangers week in a haunted house. How the two are comparable in ways that differ from any other ghost story im not quite sure. The book has many elements that leave you woundering if this was ment to be exploring a poor girls mental illness or actual ghost story. while things go bump in the book many times the characters play as if nothing happened and while the book is in third person you really only get to hear the ins and outs of Eleanor and what she's thinking and reasoning to her actions. everyone else's inner workings is kind of a mystery along with the house its self and what truly happened in it or what makes it so never answered!

Heralded as an instant classic of fantasy literature, Maguire has written a wonderfully imaginative retelling of The Wizard of Oz told from the Wicked Witch's point of view. More than just a fairy tale for adults, Wicked is a meditation on the nature of good and evil.

Mundane
Revisado: 10-11-24
The cover is not the book. If you picked this book up because the cover you saw represents the play or now movie, then you may want to put it down now and chose something else. The book and play have little in common. The overall tone is much more dry, lacking passion, love, or magic ( metaphorically and literally).

Was this supposed to be scary?
Revisado: 09-21-24
The first half of the book was insanely dull and uninteresting drug out with boring useless details on property. The story comes across as a poorly written horror/thriller that missed all the marks of eary, leaving it as a lifeless mellow drama. The voices chosen to read were no help. both were to slow I rarely listen at 1.5 speed but this one had to be on 2x. I'm not sure if it was the reading or the writing (probably a combo) that made one of the characters unbelievable she comes across having little grit or gusto yet manages great schemes?
