Its like watching paint dry!
Revisado: 09-30-24
This was such an uninspiring story. The writing seems very juvenile and rather amateur. The characters are dull and quite uninteresting. It felt like the author did not enjoy the sci-fi genre but was forced to write it. And was given very little time! And I know that's not true because I read other books by the same author and all the previous books I read were fantastic! Nothing was intriguing in the story. I was so uninterested in the story that I didn't care to finish it. So disappointed.

Historia
In Chile's Atacama Desert, a startling discovery threatens the very fabric of reality. Satellite imagery reveals an anomaly, thirty kilometers wide, radiating a power that appears to mutate everything in its path—and it's growing. Is this merely a Drax ploy designed to reassert their control over humanity, or is it a cosmic event beyond anyone's understanding? Soon, Dr. Shepard, Colonel Peters, and their elite team are dispatched to investigate the phenomenon. But nothing can prepare them for what awaits.

Not as thrilling as the first book!
Revisado: 09-11-24
Somehow the second book lost its excitement. There were a lot of parts where detail and story became uninteresting. I found myself being detached from the story and my mind was wandering away. I wasn't as glued to it as I was to the first book.

This story is well-researched and is very engaging. I thought the character development was quite interesting. There weren't any dull moments in the story. Looking forward checking out the second book.

The story isn't the most original or interesting. I didn't care much for the characters or the plot, and the ending was quiet uneventful.

A bit slow and not the most inventive.
Revisado: 08-29-24
OK, OK! yes, it has a somewhat interesting ending but it just isn't enough! It needs to have more throughout. I was so close to NOT finishing the book but I just forced myself to sit through it to see where the ending was going. The whole book from start to end is like reading some sort of textbook that just happens to leave out a lot of descriptive information. Some of the descriptive information you do get is just very repetitive. I swear I got sick and tired of hearing the word change! Not sure if the initial setup was the best solution. I could not relate to the characters and therefore didn't care for them. There are some plotholes in the story that didn't add up. In conclusion, the ending is interesting but getting there is kind of like sitting on a dentist's chair. Can't wait to get out. The performance is great! It's nice for a change to have a human read instead of the monotone ai voces.

The Writing is a bit like an instruction manual!
Revisado: 05-21-24
The storyline and characters are interesting enough to make you stay engaged. I think it is a bit similar storyline of The Expeditionary Force series. I liked the alien characters that are very unique and imaginative. The story starts very slow almost as if you are reading an instruction manual for surviving in the wilderness. It gets better as you go along but that instruction manual writing style lingers. It got a bit annoying at some point. However, it was interesting enough for me to want to see where it ends up. This will make a cool video game.

Great read. The story is not too far-fetched from our reality with a hint of sci-fi fantasy following Campbel's formula of the hero's journey. Entertaining yet anger-provoking.

Lack of creativity!
Revisado: 01-27-23
Where should I start?! I feel like the author wrote this so-called sci-fi book with an agenda to ridicule religion and people of faith! Felt like a reflection of the author's personal unpleasant experience perhaps with religion and people of faith! As far as the science and fiction part goes it's rudimentary at best and somewhat pedestrian. There is a great lack of notion of sci-fi! Nothing that will make you go waw and want to find out more. I mean you can't just take a phrase like "The Ministry of Truth" and used it in your book, make it part of your story! Just can't. The story lacks imagination and feels like it's been sterilized of any creativity and fantasy. If you find humor and entertainment in ridiculing religious people then perhaps one will find this book amusing! Other than that there isn't much to go on. Nothing new and fresh at least. Same old recycled ideas that circle around on social media and have become white noise. Wish I could get my one credit back! If I could give less than one star I would but no such option.
