Chaos and spoilers
Revisado: 07-25-22
narration was exceptional, and the stories I could listen to weren't bad.
-
however if you haven't finished the gaunts ghost series, there's two or three stories in here that take place after the conclusion of that series. so beware spoilers. I had to skip listening to those.
-
if you're into chaos and the imperium getting it's but whipped, there's several stories in here for you! had to skip those ones too.
-
I deeply enjoy the 40K genre, gritty, grimdark, humanity on the brink. what I enjoy most, is despite horrific loss, corruption and incompetence in leadership, the imperium manages to come out on top, bloodlly purging its enemies. hard to find that in this novel.

awesome story filling in some blanks
Revisado: 06-21-22
as always, the narrators for this series are unimpeachable. book after book the voices are the same, very well done.
-
in the Gaunts Ghost series, you go from one fethed up mess to another; and that's just those running the wars! very entertaining, very easy to get emotionally invested in the stories and the characters.
-
but what happens in between? this dossier is a nice addition, filling in the blanks of what happens after the world is liberated. so it helps if you've read a few of the first books in the series before this.
-
well worth a credit and I can't wait for more!

I don't give 5 stars lightly
Revisado: 04-19-22
so the story keeps jumping back and forth past and present, and the names can make the story hard to follow sometimes, but that's 40K books.
-
that said, I love the tail of the Krieg. the sisters of battle are not the only zealots! this book tells the tail of Krieg that was, Krieg that is, and Krieg that will be. pay attention dear listener, the details come together and you can draw an interesting conclusion at the end!
-
Mateo was well told in the narrator was superlative. awesome book about an awesome faction of the 40K world.

GREAT STORY, THOUGH A LIL SLOW
Revisado: 09-20-21
narration was great. I am thoroughly enjoying the backstory and lore that we are getting out of this series. however I'm an action-centric kind of guy and the action kind of lags. but when it does pick up, boy howdy, is there some great action!

Under the orders of Roboute Guilliman, he is deployed to Almace, a minor seat of the Ecclesiarchy, to protect the world at whatever cost. Yet even as diabolical forces leer from the system's edge, Calder discovers that the capital's Cardinal-Governor, a sharp, inscrutable figure of spiritual and material authority, is hiding something. When it becomes clear that conquest is not the enemy’s sole aim, Calder resolves to uncover the secret of Almace.

good read, easy to follow
Revisado: 07-14-21
there is the rare book, that I can't put down, must devour with haste; this wasn't it, but it was close. a great narrator helps.
I like this was easy to follow, four imperial Marine chapters, each focusing on a different theater of the war. when you jumped from one theater to the other, the narrator noted that, a very nice touch.
this gives some further insight into the world of the heretic, as well as the world of the imperium.

great, but confusing
Revisado: 07-01-21
the narrator was incredible. you could feel the emotion that he infected into the appropriate areas. loved the description of the fights and the development of the Primaris Marines.
-
the story however, it's hard enough keeping up with the names used in the 40K world. but then you keep jumping to different battlefields and different times in different worlds? very easy to get lost in what's happening now and what's happening then and to who.
-
listening through a second time, does help make sense of things, clear up some confusion.

Historia
Nearly 2,000 years ago, Jesus told a simple parable about a family...a father and his two sons. It was a story of rebellion, repentance, and unfathomable grace. The Parable of the Prodigal Son still stands out as a crucial lesson about our struggle with sin and dependence on divine salvation. But there is a part of this story that often goes untold. It's a message you need to hear.
