Historia
When Elon Musk was a kid in South Africa, he was regularly beaten by bullies. One day a group pushed him down some concrete steps and kicked him until his face was a swollen ball of flesh. He was in the hospital for a week. But the physical scars were minor compared to the emotional ones inflicted by his father, an engineer, rogue, and charismatic fantasist.

Enthralling But Selective Story Telling
Revisado: 02-04-24
Fascinating insights on the enigma that is Elon Musk. But blatantly dishonest on the recount of so many stories.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Genuine, passionately written and narrated! The listener is swooped into each story. Harry has rare talent as a storyteller!
Stories about his coming of age, a search for his identity as a brother, as a man.

Historia
A noted space expert explains the current revolution in spaceflight, where it leads, and why we need it. Astronautical engineer Robert Zubrin spells out the potential of these new developments in an engrossing narrative that is visionary yet grounded by a deep understanding of the practical challenges. Fueled by the combined expertise of the old aerospace industry and the talents of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, spaceflight is becoming cheaper.

Dishonest story telling & deadpan narration
Revisado: 12-24-22
Zubrin apparently tried to dramatize historical milestones (eg SpaceX' first booster recovery, ch 1)
Cliché ridden and contrivance from the Introduction throughout
Bad writing by Zubrin. Poor voice acting by Lenz who sounds like he's narrating one of those 90s new-hire orientation videos
My only recommendation for this book is for everyone to pass on it.

Historia
What is masculinity? Ask ten men and you'll get ten vague, conflicting answers. Unlike any book of its kind, The Way of Men offers a simple, straightforward answer - without getting bogged down in religion, morality, or politics. It's a guide for understanding who men have been and the challenges men face today. The Way of Men captures the silent, stifling rage of men everywhere who find themselves at odds with the overregulated, overcivilized, politically correct modern world.

Conservative Masculinity and Other Pretentions
Revisado: 03-31-19
This guy is so hung up on conservative masculinity that it's shocking! He seems to think that the only way to be a "man" is through rugged hard animalistic nonsense that doesn't tie in western culture. And he thinks society is loosing it's way because most of us hold office/white collar jobs.
I regret having baught this book.

Historia
We've all asked ourselves whether there is any meaning in human life. But for philosophers, this is just the first question of many: Is such a question even answerable by philosophy? And if so, can the practice of philosophy itself pursue a positive answer? Can philosophy prove life has any meaning? These 24 accessible lectures offer a thoughtful and stimulating discussion of how some of the greatest minds in the past three centuries have pondered why we are here and what journey we might be on.

Erickson lays out, in clear language, practical approaches to mindfulness. This series of lectures serves as a great complimentary introduction to philosophy and will leave you, on a satisfying way, searching for more questions.

Historia
For eons, Earth has been under observation by the Firstborn, beings almost as old as the universe itself. The Firstborn are unknown to humankind - until they act. In an instant, Earth is carved up and reassembled like a huge jigsaw puzzle. Suddenly the planet and every living thing on it no longer exist in a single timeline.

Fanboy Sci-Fi: An Stereotypical Adaventure
Revisado: 08-12-18
That the plot revolves around an entity (the First Born), long established in Clarke's work makes the story irresistable to his fans.
That the characters are all generic stereotypes, seen in everyone of Clarke's novels, makes the narrative boring, virtually predictable.
The concept of time manipulation is fun though. I also recommend Stephen Baxter's Manifold Time. There are a few surprises, not many though.
Actually, as I think of it, had this novel been pened by anyone other than the late great Arthur C. Clarke, I wouldn't have even given it a second glance when I spotted it a library years ago!
Summarily, this is for fan boy reading only.

Aurora is a story like no other!
Revisado: 06-28-18
Robinson brings life and science -skepticism to today's popscience frontier. Densely narrated but there's never a dull moment. Multuple perspectives, following the life of the main character, Fraya, 14, a seventh generation passenger on an all too mysterious, heroing, and deadly voyage to Earth's neighboring star system.
Witness the story of the ship's central computer a genuine hero whom you will love, pity, and admire. You will be gawk and dream and possibly weap at the tragedy, cringe at futilities. You simply have not read any other book like this.

Historia
No subject is bigger than reality itself, and nothing is more challenging to understand, since what counts as reality is undergoing continual revision and has been for centuries. The quest to pin down what's real and what's illusory is both philosophical and scientific, a metaphysical search for ultimate reality that goes back to the ancient Greeks. For the last 400 years, this search has been increasingly guided by scientists, who create theories and test them in order to define and redefine reality.
