Historia
It is 1454, and for over a year King Henry VI has remained all but exiled in Windsor Castle, struck down by his illness, his eyes vacant, his mind a blank. His fiercely loyal wife and queen, Margaret of Anjou, safeguards her husband's interests, hoping that her son, Edward, will one day come to know his father. With each month that Henry is all but absent as king, Richard, the duke of York, protector of the realm, extends his influence throughout the kingdom.

Great Series!
Revisado: 11-10-23
I just finished the third book in the series of the war of the roses. All three books were absolutely phenomenal. I was especially impressed with the narrator and the way he presented each character. He hast to be the best narrator I’ve listened to.
This was a first for me for the author. I’m looking forward to seeking out more of his books. I am a fan of European history, both fiction and non. I would highly recommend listening to all three books.

Historia
In 1437, the Lancaster king Henry VI ascends the throne of England after years of semi-peaceful regency. Named "The Lamb," Henry is famed more for his gentle and pious nature than his father's famous battlefield exploits; already, his dependence on his closest men has stirred whispers of weakness at court. A secret truce negotiated with France to trade British territories for a royal bride - Margaret of Anjou - sparks revolts across English territory.

Riveting!
Revisado: 10-11-23
I am huge fan of Historical Fiction/Non.. This was a first for this author and I am extremely impressed! The storytelling went well above my expectations. The details and creativeness actually put me in the same room as the characters.
The narration was the best I’ve ever heard. I enjoy how he altered his voice to bring the people to life.
I finished book 1 and just started book 2. I highly recommend reading Conn Iggulden’s War of the Roses entire series

Absolutely wonderful story
Revisado: 07-02-23
I am a reader of WW2 fiction and non. I have primarily read from the Jewish survivor perspective and this is my first from the German side. I was, at first, apprehensive listening to the characters of the Nazi side, but i quickly became enthralled. I was unable to put it down. The story telling was one of the best I’ve listened to.
Highly recommend if you are an avid reader of this genre.

Exceptional
Revisado: 09-03-21
After listening to Beneath a Scarlet Sky on Audible,
I was pleasantly surprised. I had never read anything of Mark Sullivan’s, but the story line intrigued me. My books of choice are WWII stories of those who lived through such a difficult period. They are Heroes.
I never thought he could top it.
Imagine my surprise, when I found myself late for work because I had to know what happened next!
The Last Green Valley is a story of profound survival with so many trials and tribulations. A family that had the will to overcome such tragedies left me breathless.
I highly recommend it. This 2nd book has made me a huge fan of Mark Sullivan!
Enjoy!

A must read
Revisado: 08-07-21
I was skeptical about this book, at first. I usually listen to true stories about WWII.
This story was well told and although fiction, it was believable.
The reader was outstanding. The voices of the characters made the story that much more enjoyable.
I listen on my way to and from work, I found myself walking in the office late, as I eager to hear what happened next!
Enjoy.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

One of the absolute best audio books I’ve listened to. The story was riveting. Lale and Geetas story should be one heard by everyone. The details kept me listening for hours finding myself lost in World War II and trying to comprehend the horrific events of the time.
An absolute must read.

I stopped listening based on the reader..
Revisado: 11-21-18
I stopped listening to the book, as I found the performance of the reader to be sub par. He spoke too quickly which failed to hold my interest.
I was disappointed since Audible recommended the book based on my previous listening. I gave the story a 1 because I could not get past chapter 1.
