Historia
Ever since his astonishing victory in the 1991 PGA Championship, John Daly has enthralled fans with his big drives, bigger personality, and "Grip It and Rip It" approach to golf - and to life. Usually seen with a Marlboro Light dangling from his lip, John is the unchained, unpredictable, unapologetic bad boy of professional golf. My Life in and out of the Rough is a thrillingly - and sometimes shockingly - candid memoir of a larger-than-life athlete battling assorted addictions (alcohol, gambling, chocolate, sex), his weight, and, perhaps worst of all, divorce lawyers.

Historia
Dee Brown's eloquent, meticulously documented account of the systematic destruction of the American Indian during the second half of the 19th century uses council records, autobiographies, and firsthand descriptions. Brown allows great chiefs and warriors of the Dakota, Ute, Sioux, Cheyenne, and other tribes to tell us in their own words of the battles, massacres, and broken treaties that finally left them demoralized and defeated.

Eye Opening
Revisado: 10-21-22
I never knew the grim history of the Native American people. I had a basic understanding at best but this book was eye opening. It does a great job of accounting for the atrocities committed by settlers and the American government and military. It's a must listen, especially for American youth, which the school system does a poor job of teaching the true history (at least in my day).

Story was incredible. Winslow is a masterful storyteller and his imagery really paints a vidid scene as you get sucked into the book. Narrator is incredible. If I could spend a credit to listen to 8 hours of him describing paint dry I would.

Historia
Some places seem too beautiful to be touched by horror. Summit Lake, nestled in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, is that kind of place. But two weeks ago, Becca Eckersley, a first-year law student and daughter of a powerful attorney, was brutally murdered there. Now the town is reeling with grief, and the police are baffled.

This started out strong, and featured some great twists that keeps you guessing and theorizing on how it will end. The first 2/3 of the book was solid but the last 1/3 left me unsatisfied. Ending felt unpolished and quick to conclude.

He might hope now to be left alone, to have a time of peace after gaining a great victory, but new enemies arise to destroy all he has achieved. First is Mordred himself, the crippled king who owes everything to Arthur and now tries to kill his benefactor. Mordred's ally is Nimue who has come to hate her mentor, Merlin.

Historia
At the end of The Winter, King Arthur fought the battle that forces unity on the warring British kingdoms and now he sets out to face the real enemy - the English (it is one of the great ironies of the Arthur stories that he should have become an English hero when, if he existed at all, he was a great war-leader who opposed the invading Sais). First, though, Merlin leads a perilous expedition into the mysterious west to retrieve a cauldron, one of the treasures of Britain.

Absolutely Blown Away (2/3)
Revisado: 09-25-22
Basically copying my last review because the second book is excellent and follows the first perfectly. Incredible story and narration. Kept me hooked from the first to last page. If you like this genre of fiction, this is a must listen. Cornwell is a masterful storyteller and Keeble nails the narration which combined for a wonderful listen. The character development is fantastic. The story is a great interpretation of King Arthur, and likely my favorite.

Historia
The tale begins in Dark Age Britain, a land where Arthur has been banished and Merlin has disappeared, where a child-king sits unprotected on the throne, where religion vies with magic for the souls of the people. It is to this desperate land that Arthur returns, a man at once utterly human and truly heroic: a man of honor, loyalty, and amazing valor; a man who loves Guinevere more passionately than he should; a man whose life is at once tragic and triumphant.

The planet is called Banshee. The air is unbreathable, the water poisonous. It is the home of the most implacable enemies that humanity, in all its interstellar expansion, has ever encountered. Felix is a scout in A-team Two. Highly competent, he is the sole survivor of mission after mission. Yet he is a man consumed by fear and hatred.

Couldn't get into it.
Revisado: 09-13-19
*Disclaimer, I have not finished the book*
I picked this up because of it's great reviews. Sadly, I couldn't get into it enough to finish it.
I feel it spends too much time diving into trivial details. I respect that it's creating a vivid setting for the readers and trying to establish detailed characters, but for me I thought it was boring. I've read reviews that in later books the story picks up and has more action, but it was too difficult to actively pay attention to make it to the better parts.
I also think the narrator wasn't a great fit for the reading. The characters seemed presented similarly and I commonly lost myself in their dialogue.
Definitely listen to any samples and read lots of reviews before buying if you're not sure. It's a great book, but it's definitely not for everyone (like me).
