Historia
The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Max Brooks, driven by the urgency of preserving the acid-etched first-hand experiences of the survivors from those apocalyptic years, traveled across the United States of America and throughout the world, from decimated cities that once teemed with upwards of 30 million souls, to the most remote and inhospitable areas of the planet.

What a listen!
Revisado: 07-14-07
This was a fun listen. As a conservative I didn't find the political agenda to far to the left and in fact think that many of the items discussed are just truths about modern selfish society. If you think about it the reason the Zombies spread so thoroughly was more a judgment against humanity today than any political agenda. You could say the left was so anti-war they they allowed the threat to spread to the point that it was too late, and the right had overreached the military to where it could not react quick enough to this type of conflict.
One item I did think was lacking was that the US has a huge personal gun ownership and this was never discussed with city or community militias forming to fight off the threat. The truth is something like this Zombie outbreak would do worse here than in countries with less gun ownership. I mean come on, there are more guns in the US than there are people. Otherwise a really good Audio book and worth the listen.

Historia
We view the long, horrifying struggle from the vantage of the White House as Lincoln copes with incompetent generals, hostile congressmen, and his raucous cabinet. He overcomes these obstacles by winning the respect of his former competitors, and in the case of Seward, finds a loyal and crucial friend to see him through. This brilliant multiple biography is centered on Lincoln's mastery of men and how it shaped the most significant presidency in the nation's history.

This book is amazing. I loved its depth and pace. I felt like I was there in Lincolns time and presence. The narration was well done and I was amazed at how little I new about Lincoln. At the end of this listening I felt as if I had been robbed by my educators. They never expressed or discussed the greatness that was Lincoln.

Historia
When he hit the airwaves 30 years ago, John Stossel helped create a whole new category of news, dedicated to protecting and informing consumers. As a crusading reporter, he chased snake-oil peddlers, rip-off artists, and corporate thieves, winning the applause of his peers.
But along the way, he noticed that there was something far more troublesome going on: While the networks screamed about the dangers of exploding BIC lighters and coffeepots, worse risks were ignored.

I loved this book. Not only does Stossel speak the truth but his narration makes this recording stand above the rest. Stossel's delivery is great. I would recommend this book to anyone who liked Stossel on 20/20.

This book tells the facts and if you listen to the sources the many are from left leaning to straight out far left sources. Miniter quotes from foreign sources and papers and does the work necessary to state the correct facts. I do agree the Miniter agrees with the war on terror, but the point of the book was to show how misinformed people are affecting the was on terror and its effectiveness. This book is worth the listen.

Worth a listen whether pro or con
Revisado: 01-17-06
This veterans take on Iraq is no picknick. It doesn't sugar coat. It doesn't show the 100% greatness of america. Basically it shows how much like a big company the military is. I work for the largest IT provider in the world and it reminded me of how unstreamlined you become when your so big. So many people making decisions outside the frame of reference screwing things up or getting in the way. I loved the book and would recommend it to anyone. It's not always pretty but it's the truth. I gave it 4 out of 5 because I prefer unabridged I always feel cheated with abridged audiobooks.

Historia
As late as 1518, plans were laid by Pope Leo X and the monarchs of Europe to set aside their internal quarrels and once more embark on a holy crusade to wrest the Middle East from the Ottoman Turks. Finding accord and even enthusiasm for the enterprise, all was on course for a multiyear military campaign to push east from North Africa through Egypt and south through the Balkans to squeeze the Turks in a pincer movement and finally oust the Muslims from the Holy Land.

Don't Miss The Modern Scholar Series
Revisado: 09-08-05
I love the Modern Scholar series. Ever since I first listened to Timothy Schutts lectures on the Persian Wars I have been hooked. The lecture series has always been a great learning experience since they tend to go more in depth than the History I ever had in school. With "God Wills It!" the professor has done a wonderful job on explaining the crusades. I felt like I was in the class and it took me back to the old college days (except this time I actually wanted to listen). The lecture is engaging and the Professor has good narrative skills so he didn't lose me. If you like history and were always interested in the crusades this is a must listen.

From the earliest days of his dictatorship, Saddam Hussein had vowed to destroy Israel. So, when France sold Iraq a top-of-the-line nuclear reactor in 1975, the Israelis were justifiably concerned, especially when they discovered that Iraqi scientists had already formulated a secret program to extract weapon-grade plutonium from the reactor, a first critical step in creating an atomic bomb.

I loved the narrative and if I hadn't known better I would have thought I was listening to a Clancy novel. This book was great and another great suggestion from the staff. I was quickly drawn into the story and found the treatment well done. If you like history and love military type stories this is a must have.

Great Book, But I'm Biased
Revisado: 05-26-05
I loved this book. I have been a huge fan of IBM since my younger years and was aware of the possible breakup of "Big Blue" in the early 90's. I didn't even have a clue as to how bad it was though. Amazing to see how some of the old guard behemoths get bogged down with the "that's the way we've always done it" attitude and slowly sink into the dinosaur tar pits. Gerstner did a miracle if you ask me after having listened to his accounts of internal processes and procedures gone mad. I recommend the unabridged for those that like to hear it all, and I am not a business book person. I especially liked the narrator selection.

Great Book!
Revisado: 05-26-05
I loved His Excellency and would gladly recommend it to others. I don't know what the other reviewers were complaining about, I thought the narration was fine and kept me engaged. Washington truly was a man for the ages. He won two major battles out of the whole revolutionary war and went on to lead the country as a "national hero" that even Jefferson dared not defame until later in his career. I found the book evenhanded and quite thurough. I am a conservative and had no issues with Ellis' take on the President and recommend it to history buffs like me.

The story had me riveted from beginning to end. I have never suba dived before but I felt as if I was right there besides the main characters. It was amazing to hear about these men who put their lives on the line to solve a mystery. I try and only download unabridged and the unabridged edition is huge so be prepared, but its worth it. I downloaded this on the recommendation of one of the audible employees and BOY was it a find! I never would have considered it, glad I took a chance. Other than some foul language it had me from beginning to end.
