Beautiful Narration!!

I listened to this book decades ago (books on TAPE!) and it was a lovely story. I’m a big fan of Mr Steinbeck and listened to or read most of his novels. So while I was already assured the book itself was going to be a good story, the storyteller was not ready for such a skilled narrator. Each character has a well thought out voice of their own. His performance in narration brought more to the characters and story than had I just read this on my own. Bravo to the narrator for drawing me into this story once again. (Narrator’s name is Dylan Baker)

I think I’m all caught up on my John Douglas books now!! This one was great. Anatomy of Motive still has all the stories from Mr. Douglas’ career, except gets more into the “why tho?!” aspect of the crime. There are some really sick examples of human depravity which adds some gory details. Keeps the reader interested as long as you can handle it!

I really love the books by John Douglas!! He and Mark Olshaker work brilliantly together to write books that are smart as well as thought provoking. Many of the cases that are written about in Law and Disorder I only know the basics of, or I only had the media’s point of view (which is often skewed and wrong). The media should tell us the story, not create the story.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good in-depth true story about murder and crime.

I really enjoyed this book!! The characters are rich and deep, and I love how this children are portrayed. The story moves along and stays interesting, and I am able to feel how old New York City was back in those times.

The other reviews say how awful and unbearable the torture scenes are in this book, but I didn’t see any of that. Some of the worst ones were a bit chilling but not awful. Not nightmarish.
This is a long read but not that memorable and not much of a page turner. Its one of those “OK” books.

Thank you for changing my mind about death, Ms. Doughty. I have now listened to all three of your books and they are enlightening and entertaining!! I loved hearing about how people practice their different death rituals all over the world, and the way you write about each place is so educational.
Your humor is always right on point and even though you are speaking about a touchy subject, you are never disrespectful to anyone. Thanks for writing, and I hope you write more books. I. The meantime maybe you can narrate other people’s books!! Your narrating is top notch!

I really loved this book as well as Caitlin Doughty’s more recent book “Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs?” I am so grateful for happening upon your work, Caitlin, and thank you for all your insight.
You really have changed my mind about death. It still does scare me a little, as maybe it should, but since you have so honestly opened the black curtain of death, showing your readers all the truths of what happens to our bodies after we die, it is less scary now. Your life’s work is a success! I will continue to hear what you have to say on YouTube and your website. Thanks so much for all of your experiences and insights.

The best!!

I bought this audiobook because of the title. “Oh I like cats, I want to know if my own cat wishes to eat my eyeballs!” Only after I bought it did I see it was a book about corpses, and man was I happy!! I love a good book about death.
The author is brilliant, and I am going to see if she’s written any other books. I hope so...
She is such a wonderful narrator that I want her to narrate everything.. please Caitlin? Please narrate Fifty Shades of Grey? You wrote an amazing and hilarious book about dead bodies, and I learned so much from it. I was also entertained the entire time!! Even when you made me gag. Thanks for that 💕
