You have to force yourself to listen to it all. it's repetitive, to the point, and honest, all for a reason ... it works.
I quit smoking and haven't looked back and didn't 'suffer' through it. lol

Herman Wouk's sweeping epic of World War II, which begins with The Winds of War and continues here in War and Remembrance, stands as the crowning achievement of one of America's most celebrated storytellers. Like no other books about the war, Wouk's spellbinding narrative captures the tide of global events - and all the drama, romance, heroism, and tragedy of World War II - as it immerses us in the lives of a single American family drawn into the very center of the war's maelstrom.

Fabulous!
Revisado: 03-12-15
Wow this was good. The story starts off moving. No slow boring intro. The way the story is written, its told in action. The memories that fill in the background info are placed perfectly in the context. You dont feel dragged up and back at all. Its smooth and naturally flowing, the way a person would be telling their story. *The story is in first person. There definitely are twist and turns. As the story progresses so does the plot. I listened in one listen. I couldn't stop. This one is a page turner. It has suspense, intrigue, action, emotion, and a touch of scifi. Very well written.
The narration...fabulous too. Perfect narrator. That was a second plus for this story, as some narrators read you the story, this narrator tells you the story. I forgot it wasn't the main character talking. And even better, the other characters were nothing like the main character. It was easy to feel other narrators were doing their parts. The different voices had different tones and different personalities in the voices. It was easy to get taken away in the imagination of the story....it came fully to life.
Superbly written,superbly narrated....the best combo.
I only hope these two come together for a squeal!!!!

In love with this series!
Revisado: 01-09-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes! Its perfect for any scifi/fantasy nut. It has a lot of the magic elements this time and the characters are well developed.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Shadow and Flame. Because the two just work. Its a perfect combo. And its not overly done.
Which scene was your favorite?
First time Phoenix gets injured. Didn't see it coming. One of those oh darn, excitement, moments.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, as it moves but cant because schedule doesnt allow.
Any additional comments?
Yes!!! I need book 3 and its not on audible. So, I'm jumping over to kindle now!!! :)

Vydor was on a fast track to the highest-ranking position in the Imperial Navy’s security forces and was recently assigned to the senior staff of the flagship of the Navy, the Dragon Claw. All he wanted to do his entire life was to serve his god, the Emperor, and given his phenomenal performance during his training in the Naval Academy, it seemed he would be able to do just that.

Fun Listen!
Revisado: 12-30-14
Would you listen to The Enemy of an Enemy again? Why?
Yes! The story isnt boring. You dont have long drawn put parts that make you want to doze off. Its exciting and fun.
What did you like best about this story?
You dont know what the writer is going to toss at you next. This story has everything, scifi, doomsday, magic and fantasy, and love too!
Which character – as performed by Jack de Golia – was your favorite?
The healer!!! I dont know why but between the writing and the narration, I just was drawn to the healer. The aspects of her complex personality come through. She has a soft, caring, gentle, demeanor set by the narrator and yet you know from the story she is tough and determined.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Has it all!!
Any additional comments?
If you want to run away into a place and time of space, aliens, wizards, and battles, this is the story!! Its pure fantasy and its scifi. The best of both worlds in one. :)
The narration is done well. Characters are easy to distinguish and their personalities come through. The writer did well with character development and in mixing the fun of fantasy with futuristic scifi concepts.
The only bad part was that it ended. But there's more in book 2. The nice side is your not left with a cliffhanger and yet there is more and thats the best part! You can listen to this as a stand alone but as they say, the battle may be over but the war goes on. ;)

Revisado: 12-24-14
I have never been out west. I entered this story clueless. The writing and narration did a fabulous job of taking me into this territory I have never experienced. I could place myself in the descriptions of the areas. It was beautiful and fascinating!
And this is a tragic story. The way the writer brought the reality to the pages really hit the heart. The narrator didnt falter taking you through the horrors of that night. I cried. Wow unimaginable. So sad.
This is a true and gut wrenching story, eloquently told and superbly written.
This is my honest review via a promotion.
