Brief, clear, effective communication that can resonate regardless of your ideological priors. Táíwò may be a Marxist, but his thoughts on elite capture cut across any ideological boundaries.

More than a handful of fascinating insights and nuggets of information about humanity and cultural evolution drowned in methodology, jargon, and long side journeys into particular civilizations.

This audio performer just GOES FOR IT. It’s political philosophy; I mean, it’s going to be bland. But the content he puts into certain words, the accents when he speaks foreign languages, the flourish to more salient points. Expert level.

Though I hope the author signed off on the final copy, since a performance that good can influence the meaning and intent behind the words.

Strawmen everywhere

This book deserves a great amount of credit for proposing solutions to the nations problems that cut against the grain of many conventional ideas currently permeating. But too often the description of the problem or the merits of opposing solutions are reduced to mere strawman arguments, not approaching anywhere beat the nuance and depth used to discuss his own ideas.

Worth a read for the chapters on wage supports and organized labor reform alone, but for all his dismissal of economic piety, much of what he offers is fairly rote conservative economic tenets.
