Everyone has their secrets.
When ageing rocker Chris Swallow is discovered dead in his home, questions that have remained unanswered for years resurface. Primarily, the death of a young girl, Rosie, who left home one day in 1998 to attend a party thrown by his rock group, The Swallows, and then mysteriously disappeared. All eyes were on Chris as she was known to be dating him.
On hearing the news of the rocker's demise, Rosie's sister, Laura, over 20 years later, takes matters into her own hands and begins her investigation of the tragic events that happened to her sister years earlier. On top of the commotion caused by these events, old crimes are dredged up, and along with them, old feelings and heartaches. Can she unearth the truth without attracting the attention of the killer?
Summer of Swallows is a crime, mystery, and thriller by Molly Garcia set in the late '90s. I really enjoyed this book. It's a well-crafted story filled with mystery and intrigue. I liked discovering the relationship between Chris and Rosie, while also being drawn into the gripping mystery of the murders and the motives behind them. This aspect of the story kept me guessing and balanced well with the more emotional side of the deaths. I believe the author did an excellent job of telling these stories side-by-side, shifting between the past and present.
I listened to the audio version narrated by Grant Love. As usual, he enunciated every word and phrase clearly and cleanly. Listen to how he pronounces "rotten rubbish" - sheer perfection! He compellingly tells the story, incorporating the spirit of the text and the author’s intent consistently throughout the narration.
By its genre, this book should appeal to many readers with its secrets, deaths, and unlimited surprises. I give Summer of Swallows a 5 out of 5 stars.

After Andy's younger sister, Willow, disappeared one evening, his life was never the same. He blamed himself and was filled with "what ifs" and regret, determined to discover what happened that dreadful night.
When he is contacted by Cleo, who professes to be a psychic, she provides him with information no one else could know. Thirty years after Willow's disappearance, Andy returns to his childhood town to uncover the truth of what really happened to his sister. Can he finally find the peace he desires and lay Willow to rest?
I absolutely loved Molly Garcia's writing before reading this book, and after finishing it, I'm filled with a strong desire to read more of her work. This author fearlessly tackles what some may consider taboo topics, molding them into an unforgiving gritty novel that captivates the reader from the very beginning. This novel is challenging in parts, delving into abduction, child disappearance, and murder. However, Molly Garcia provides a satisfying conclusion.
I recently listened to the audiobook, and if you've ever experienced an audiobook, you know how much the narrator can influence your overall experience, whether you're reading fiction or nonfiction. Grant Love has a talent for making the demanding recording process sound effortless, and he effectively conveys the emotions the writer intended. You can count on a performance that truly brings the story to life.
I recommend "Willow Weeps" to adult readers who enjoy thrillers and scary mysteries, but sensitive readers should be aware of the content discussed previously.
I rate Willow Weeps 5 out of 5 stars.

"One Dark Night" by Molly Garcia is a gripping work of fiction filled with action, crime, thrills, and unexpected twists.
When journalist Ginger Burrows receives an anonymous tip that Arthur Parks may not have murdered Amy Sinclair, it could be the defining moment of her career. The problem is that Arthur, who has schizophrenia, has already been charged based on evidence found in his possession. DCI Kevin Greggs is the one who brought the charges against Arthur. However, now it's up to him to determine if there's any truth to the information before it becomes public knowledge. To do that, he needs the assistance of Dr. Ethan Quinn, Arthur's doctor. Ethan is torn between his loyalty to his patient and his desire to uncover the truth from Arthur. He must delve into Arthur's mind and carefully guide him back to the time and place of the event while revisiting previously overlooked suspects.
The engaging plot made this book a real page-turner. The vivid character descriptions and writing style drew me into the story, allowing me to connect with the characters and feel their emotions. Each chapter and page felt like putting together a puzzle, revealing hidden secrets.
This was the first time I had come across the term "Cuckooing", which is a term used by the police to describe a situation where a criminal takes over the home of a vulnerable person to use it for drug dealing, storing or taking drugs, facilitating sex work, providing a place to live, or financially abusing the tenant. This added a sense of realism to the story and shed light on a type of crime that I was unaware of.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the audiobook narrated by Grant Love. Once again, he captivated me with his storytelling, bringing the scenes to life and transporting me to a vivid theatre in my mind. Grant Love is a masterful narrator who skillfully immerses his audience in an emotional journey through the ups and downs of the story.
In conclusion, “One Dark Night” is a gripping suspense crime thriller novel with unexpected twists and turns, for which I would rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I would recommend this book to readers who love action sequences within the fascinating plot of a crime thriller.

“One Blue Shoe” by Molly Garcia is a captivating mystery novel that weaves a complex web of secrets, hidden pasts, and unexpected connections. The story follows Chris and Julie, a typical couple grappling with their troubled marriage. What once was easy is now a battle even to be in the same room together.

The couple chooses to conceal the body rather than report the accident, leading to a life overshadowed by murder and increasing complications. As days pass, the paranoia grows, and lies cover up more lies. Despite the peaceful facade, not everything is as it seems in this neighbourhood.

After three children go missing, Carrie Martins is arrested and convicted of their murders. Fifteen years later, newly hired as a prison psychiatrist, Dr. Ethan Quinn has the daunting task of deciding whether Carrie qualifies for parole or remains in prison. Her statements are never supported by the facts and her lack of regret complicates matters. But if Carrie isn't the murderer, then who is, and why?
I found the premise of Believe Me, by Molly Garcia utterly intriguing. It is a psychological thriller that winds around characters with distinct characteristics, which makes the plot rich and immersive. The narrative examines issues of mental illness, heinous crime, and the lengths people will go to to achieve their goals.
The characters are the novel's primary focus by far. They are all different in their mannerisms and abilities, and they all add a unique flavour and charm to the story, which makes them work so well together. However, because child murder is such a delicate subject, some readers may find it difficult to read about. But this contentious issue is discussed without making the audience uncomfortable.
I listened to the excellent audiobook, and Grant Love is a great fit. His accent and fluid cadence have the power to make it unforgettable. It adds a unique element to his reading, along with the occasional sound effects included at appropriate moments.
Despite the topic, I enjoyed listening to the novel and recommend it to anyone who likes to read or listen to thrillers with a psychological twist.
I rate Believe Me 5 out of 5 stars.
