Historia
How can a colony on Mars survive when the greatest danger on the planet is humanity itself? All contact is lost with the first privately funded colony on Mars during a long and destructive sandstorm. Satellite imagery of the aftermath shows extensive damage to the facility. The 54 colonists who called it home are presumed dead.

Our future?
Revisado: 04-14-25
I enjoyed the story as I think it could be our future. I also liked it as it offers a plausible background story to “The Expanse”. (my favorite story) but in the expanse, Mars is a separate self-governing world at the beginning of the story and this story definitely could be how it came to be. I also see he has another series (The Belt) which is about the mining of the asteroid belt introduced in this series, but also is the third leg of the Expanse story. I need to read that one too.

Historia
From the shores of a secret planet to the halls of power in Washington, Van navigates a complex web of lies, law, and politics, all so that Earth can be saved from the clutches of ruthless criminals. But these people aren't from Earth. In fact, they're not even human, and they see Earth as a ripe fruit ready to be picked. That doesn't work for Van and his crew, so he begins fighting back with the dirtiest tactics of all: diplomacy. Since the aliens are among us, and they want money and power, Perry and Miryam will unleash their skills to craft a plan.

Van truly becomes a master
Revisado: 01-24-25
I thought this was one of the better books in the series. Van seems to be taking charge of his position and making progress settling some of his old battles. I am looking forward to some of van’s family life, but I realize he has to fix the guild before that comes.

Decent story not well presented
Revisado: 01-18-25
I was disappointed in this book. I like the author and have read almost all of his Backyard Starship and Peace Maker Wars series. While the story always made me anxious for the next chapter, the self examination dialogue of the main character wasn’t something I liked. I am not sure if it was the story or the presentation, but I am resisting buying the next book.

Historia
For Van and his crew, danger is no longer just among the stars. On earth, the Fafnir has drawn the attention of the most dangerous predator known to humanity—Bureaucrats. Between human enemies and alien allies, Van finds himself on the edge of a powerful change in his career. From the depths of his family history, an old enemy returns with plans for power at any cost. Just as his grandfather did fifty years earlier, Van will meet and challenge the threat of an ancient empire that spans deserts, stars, and time.

And the story becomes more complicated
Revisado: 09-15-24
I am not sure how I like adding more twists to the story line, especially the part about Perry’s increased memory and what it contains. I did like where they made Van’s grandfather a good guy that worked behind the scenes doing the work of a guild master. So now I guess that Van is a guild master? I am reading the Guild Wars series which is about Van’s grandfather as his career is beginning. At some point I hope to encounter his grandfather doing things mentioned by Van.

What a story
Revisado: 08-28-24
I found the story hard to follow and understand until near the end. I think the story is a supreme race (the Gods) give mankind (lead by an individual) the opportunity to serve them, but the individual is determined to destroy the Gods no matter how long it takes. Mankind is told they will be spread across the universe and can only communicate through the individual. This is like the Expanse on steroids. It amazes me how the authors can think this material up and live among us normal people. I am interested to see where this story goes.

Revisado: 11-08-23
This was an amazing story of man’s interface with machine existence. I don’t know how Ken Lozito can think up the complex devices that make this story flow as smoothly as it does and I really don’t how Ken Lozito lives in our real boring world.
