I actually have loved Louise Bay books since I recently discovered her books.so this book came as an absolute disappointment. There literally was nothing ruthless about Hayden. A mere inconvenience at best and even then nothing that stuck. My first DNF with a Louise Bay book

It was an okay read. Grace and Sam were interesting enough to warrant completion of the book. However some reactions were completely unwarranted. Perhaps also because I have been bingeing on romance , I wasnt too keen on the story of all the Louise Bay books I have read i the month of May- this was my least favourite

I was thoroughly entertained

Loved this story , I had a couple of false starts simply because I couldnt get into the book the first few chapters, but when I finally did, I enjoyed this book.
I have lately realized I am very critical of filler content in a book and this did not miss its share of unnecessary info that neither added nor subtracted from the overall story.

First off, I could not imagine marrying a husband who could not be bothered to show up.... I mean, how desperate could I be to agree to such an arrangement? I pitied Afi at some point, but i am glad she grew a spine and left that husband of hers Eli, and his controlling mother. Come to think of it I remember listening to this book and realizing it read a lot like a west african movie, but it was captivating enough to get to the very end. I kept hoping someone would stand up to Eli's domineering mother.

Entertaining from the start to the tail end

Loved this book. it has been on my reading list for a while now and it truly it did not disappoint. It had me hooked from the start all the way to the end. It is a story about love, loss, desperation, closure , adjustment and cross basically adjusting in a different culture from your own. The plight of foreigners, and immigrants and more so the plight of women in a patriachal society especially after being widowed is highlighted very well in this book. You cannot help but love the Bibis in the story whom some of them are not very old but have bandied together by loss of their husbands.

It is well written and had me laughing out loud in many parts and talking back to the reader in my audible. It was easy to get lost in this book, to get fully immersed in their lives and pick sides. It was my favorite book of March

Motivational Books/Self Help do not tickle my fanc

Struggled to finish the book. But I have noticed, i struggle less with audible to finish books. I doubt I would have finished this book if I was reading it physically or as an ebook. It is a long long book which thinking about, would have been much shorter. I now understand why people scheme through them as opposed to reading them cover to cover. It came highly recommended from someone who reads these types of books. Lovers of motivational/Self help, would disagree but for me fiction and autobiographies are my cup of tea.

Unexpectedly Entertaining

When I started this book, I could not get over Issa's monotone but this book was soooo hilarious; before the end of chapter one I was loving it and laughing during my commute.
Her love story is pretty amazing too. very heartwarming. What I liked most is how real this book was; I had to recommend it to a friend who loved it too

Entertaining

Back when I started reading this book, I wasn't in the headspace to enjoy it or even pick up on what my girl Yvonne was trying to tell me. Si i kept zoning out; and then I finished my last book and decided to pick this up again.
Funny how I picked it just around the time I was in transition and making tough-ish decisions but mainly stepping out of my comfort zone with nothing but an inner voice urging me to try.

Imagine my surprise at the content in this book. sure, I have listened to just about everything Yvonne has been in: interviews, podcasts, name it- but each day I would listen to the audio version, laugh at the super funny bits coz Yvonne is funny and this book, is hilarious.
Could be the high from this book, but I can confidently say, whereas my mind was already made up before starting this book,I can definitely see how it has tightened my resolve to dive into these uncharted waters wholeheartedly. Very timely read

This book had me thinking. Rethinking and evaluating my choices and decisions. Tough choices have had to be made in my personal life. I am still scared of taking the plunge but it got the wheels of change in motion. that's for sure.

This isn't my ordinary kind of book to read; If I'm being honest. But I have been listening to the audio version of this book. longer than is necessary to be honest because I only listen to it in bursts of 30 minute intervals so it only makes sense why I have taken forever to read it. I'm glad however that whatever intentions got me reading this book, actually got me round to reading it and honestly not only is Barack an interesting person/story, American policy/poltics is intriguing too and hearing about it from his perspective made it for a worthwhile listen

Grief is a weird thing

Not sure why, but I struggled with this book. It definitely was an interesting read. I think because I watched Firefly Lane before reading the book so reconciling these characters to those on the happy go lucky series.
