Historia
On the island of Kavekana, Priestess Kai builds gods to order - sort of. Kai's creations are perfect vehicles for Craftsmen and Craftswomen operating in the Old World. For beyond the ocean, true deities still thrive, untouched by the God Wars that transformed the city-states of Alt Coulumb and Dresediel Lex. When Kai tries to save a friend's dying idol, she's gravely injured - then sidelined from the business, her near-suicidal rescue attempt offered up as proof of her instability.

mediocre
Revisado: 05-18-23
It's... OK? More of the same stuff from other books, virtue signaling included, without the briliancy of Three Parts Dead. Also, the main characters are boring.

Historia
Fraa Erasmus is a young avout living in the Concent of Saunt Edhar, a sanctuary for mathematicians, scientists, and philosophers, protected from the corrupting influences of the "Saecular" world by ancient stone, honored traditions, and complex rituals. Over the centuries, cities, and governments have risen and fallen beyond the concent's walls. Three times during history's darkest epochs, bloody violence born of superstition and ignorance has invaded and devastated the cloistered mathic community.

Could be so much better
Revisado: 11-08-21
Story could be so much better if onle Stephenson did not try so hard to encompass all possible aspects of his world instead of building a coherent plot.
Narration is meh.

A disappointment
Revisado: 11-20-20
Episodes from the lives of a multi-species spaceship on a long journey - might have worked as a TV series, as a book it lacks a plot to speak of - 75% into the book I was still wondering when the interesting part is going to begin.
The characters, while loveable, are extremely two-dimensional and spend most of their time stating qliches about the importance of friendship and cultural sensitivity.

well-written, well-performed
Revisado: 06-04-20
A well-written, well-performed antithesis to Harry Potter with two flawed protagonists. Don't think it's a good book for 8 yo kids, though.

Very enjoyable
Revisado: 01-27-20
Sanderson made some twists on common tropes to produce a good story. Not flawless, and a bit too long, but interesting, well written (also well narratad) and keeps you wanting more.

Mediocre.
Revisado: 01-19-20
The story is unoriginal, though entertaining, and Harry Dresden is insufferable. Also painfully sexist. Maybe it gets better, even much better as some say, but it didn't make me want to stay and find out for myself.
