Historia
After the devastating events at Zodiac Academy, we have to deal with this darker world we're faced with. Lionel seeks to hurt us, the nymphs seek to hurt the entire fae race, and between all of it, we just have to try and survive each day as it comes. I'm afraid of everything falling apart, but it looks like it already has.

entertaining but very unsatisfying.
Revisado: 03-23-23
It feels like being stuck in a sitcom of gratuitously repeated tragedy, always ending in failure cliffhangers. not sure I will continue the series.

Historia
Ryker only had one goal in his life right now: Turn a certain adventuring guild into a flaming wreck while dancing merrily through the smoldering ruins. All for the chance to get back at a handful of people. It didn’t work out that way though. At all. He’d become the Count of Dungeon, made a hostage, married off to the false queen’s daughter against his will, and had his county made ground zero for a religious war. To top all that off, the Dark Lord of the North wants to see Ryker personally.

Juvenile male harem fantasy became distracting
Revisado: 05-13-19
I enjoyed the first book and mostly enjoyed this second too. The performance is great. But I found in book 2 the everpresent male harem fantasy plot mechanics to be enough over the top to be distracting to my story immersion. In book 1 it didn't bother me much. I think teenage boys will love this, but mostly because they don't have enough real life romantic or relationship experience to realize just how unrealistically simplistic this presentation is. For us older guys, or for me at least, I just want to be immersed in a fun story. I don't mind sex or harems or generally whatever the author wants to portray as long as I can remain immersed in the good story because it is well supported. But in this case I kept seeing an angst-ridden teenage boy as author writing this or someone who was wondering if they could get more sales without much effort. Anyway I do love the grooming Minotaur and the Fairy Queen personalities. And where is the (not so)little dragon familiar?

Historia
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.

Enjoyable enough. Too short for 1 credit.
Revisado: 04-24-18
Where does All Systems Red rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It barely registers to be honest, but I listen to tons of audiobooks from audible. I like the premise and I assume the series will be interesting. This book starts out a bit slow, then ends suddenly right when you're thinking the plot is finally picking up.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the idea that this newly awakened sentient robot is shy and has difficulty fitting into new roles. Although a bit transparent and scientifically unrealistic, that premise works great for introverted nerdy guys like me who like A.I. emergence plots.
What does Kevin R. Free bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I like listening to audiobooks while doing things I could not if I were reading, and Kevin's voice is great to fall asleep to at night.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes, I felt disappointment when it ended unexpectedly and resolved to stop spending a full credit on abnormally short content just because of an audible promo.
Any additional comments?
This should be advertised as a short story so people don't accidentally waste their credits on it. Or combine three of the series and sell it like a normal audiobook.

fun listen, poorly mixed audio overdubs
Revisado: 09-22-17
The only detraction is the poorly mixed audio segments that are too soft in volume making it annoying to hear, especially while driving.

Behind today's headlines of billionaires taking over our government is a secretive political establishment with long, deep, and troubling roots. The capitalist radical right has been working not simply to change who rules but to fundamentally alter the rules of democratic governance. But billionaires did not launch this movement; a white intellectual in the embattled Jim Crow South did.

Entertaining but WAY too short. Not worth a credit
Revisado: 02-27-17
Where does Fool Me Once rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Too short.
What did you like best about this story?
I like the series and the characters.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
This continuation of the series was enjoyable but was way too short for any feeling of satisfaction. I just assumed it was a normal book when I spent the credit on it via my phone. Now I regret wasting a credit on it.
Any additional comments?
I really don't appreciate short stories tossed into the midst of a series of full novels without it being better called out. Purchasing the next book via my phone app I didn't notice it was so short and not worth the credit. There should be some warning that you are about to spend a credit worth over twice the value of the title so I could save the credit and pay cash instead.

great fantasy love story, enjoyable, too short
Revisado: 03-01-16
Abit short but engaging. Probably oriented to young girls but enjoyable by anyone. Minus a point for getting the basic physics of gravity and planetary rotation completely wrong. It threw me out of the immersion but I doubt most fans of this genre will notice or care. I will follow through with the second book even though it feels like the second half of one book.
