Historia
February 1939. Europe teeters on the brink of war. In a Hell’s Kitchen bar, Charles Mossman is reeling from the loss of his job and the demise of his marriage. His estranged wife and their six-year-old daughter, Emma, now live in a quiet brownstone in a German-speaking New York City neighborhood where support for Hitler is common. Charles, just out of prison, struggles to put his life back together, while across the hall from his family, a kindly Swiss couple have taken a liking to Emma. But Charles begins to suspect that they might not be who they say they are.

Historia
Viktor Orlov had a longstanding appointment with death. Once Russia’s richest man, he now resides in splendid exile in London, where he has waged a tireless crusade against the authoritarian kleptocrats who have seized control of the Kremlin. His mansion in Chelsea’s exclusive Cheyne Walk is one of the most heavily protected private dwellings in London. Yet somehow, on a rainy summer evening, in the midst of a global pandemic, Russia’s vengeful president finally manages to cross Orlov’s name off his kill list.

biased political overtones
Revisado: 08-14-21
I just finished The Cellist. I have always enjoyed Mr Silva's books but this time he took sides in the American Political landscape. I take exception to the way he interpreted the January 6th uprising. Half the nation was very disappointed with the results of the election and while we do not condone any violence we do not interpret the January disturbance as an "insurrection". We feel throughout the whole last year, in many U.S. major towns and cities there was more rioting, thuggery and violence which was far more serious and harmful than the January 6th occurrence.
And to blame the 45 th president is just a Democratic, mainstream media ploy to demonize one of the most effective presidents we have had since Ronald Reagan. I am sorry but I will not read any more of your books

Historia
In April 1942, Lale Sokolov, a Slovakian Jew, is forcibly transported to the concentration camps at Auschwitz-Birkenau. When his captors discover that he speaks several languages, he is put to work as a Tätowierer (German for tattooist), tasked with permanently marking his fellow prisoners. Imprisoned for more than two and a half years, Lale witnesses horrific atrocities and barbarism - but also incredible acts of bravery and compassion. Risking his own life, he uses his position to exchange jewels and money from murdered Jews for food to keep his fellow prisoners alive.

A shockingly true story well written and precisely narrated experience in the nazi death camps.
