Historia
Unwanted and neglected from birth, Barbara Graham had to overcome the odds just to survive. Her beauty was both a blessing and a curse—offering her too many options of all the wrong kind. Her innate sensitivity left her vulnerable to the harsh realities of the street, where she was left to fend for herself before she reached double digits. Her record of petty crimes spoke to a life that constantly teetered on the brink of disaster. But in 1953, a catastrophic twist of fate would catapult her out of obscurity and into the headlines.

5 stars all the way!
Revisado: 04-14-25
I can't believe the reviewers who said this book was boring. I was riveted from the first page!
I wasn't familiar with the subject at all. Clark did an amazing job of dissecting the trial which must have been a daunting
process.
What a story! It seems obvious that Graham didn't get a fair trial although I don't think she was innocent. Certainly not worthy of the death sentence though.
Marcia Clark is an amazing attorney, writer, and narrator.
5 stars for sure.

Rick Bragg is like comfort food.
He transports me to a very familiar place I've never been to.
That's his magic.
I have every book he's written in hardcover and audio.
I cannot express how much I love his writing. Thank you, Rick!

Sharing never-before-told stories and insights, his closest friends, confidantes, lovers, classmates, teachers, and colleagues paint a vivid portrait of one of the most beloved figures of the 20th century, revealing how the boy who saluted became the man America came to know and love who still captures public imagination twenty-five years after his tragic death.

A Life Interrupted Far Too Soon
Revisado: 02-05-25
I really enjoyed this book. I have wondered many times what kind of person he really was and from the different views herein I wasn't a bit surprised. He sounded exactly like what I imagined him to be.
I also wasn't surprised at his love for flying. When you are one of the most recognized persons on the planet it must be almost claustrophobic and being up in the air free sounds like a fine remedy to me.
He had an awesome burden given his birthright but at least a part of him seemed very down to earth and extremely likeable.
I have a feeling he would have gone far in the political world. I can picture people voting for him simply because of who he was; whether that's good or bad we'll never know. I always sensed that he cared a lot about the human condition.
As one of many I was so sad at how his life ended so abruptly and at such a young age. I adored him.
I also listened to Rosemarie Terenzio's other book about him and enjoyed it immensely.
I don't know enough about his wife to make any comments about her but the triple tragedy was just awful.
John is certainly missed.

I never miss a Joyce Maynard book!
Revisado: 10-12-24
This was a beautiful story and I agree with others who said that while it is a sequel it could be a stand alone book as well.
I always love her characters and she's a great narrator. She creates people so real that you feel you really know them. I loved it.
There is some political stuff in it but since I agree with everything she said it didn't bother me. However, I'm not sure it's a good idea because most people who read fiction want to get away from the real world. I get it. But I'm not a writer so I don't know.
I adore Joyce Maynard! A huge fan here, thank you!

I've read everything this author has penned and he's a very good writer. I liked this one a lot but not as much as his others. He should have done more research on ECT as the way he described it is inaccurate. Still a good one.

I'm not his target audience but I love this show
Revisado: 06-08-24
I wish he had this podcast years ago!
He gives good, practical advice in a very compassionate way. He's a straight shooter but with kindness.
I'm old enough to be his Mom but I've learned a lot listening to his show.
He's also a bit of a goofball, which I like a lot. It lightens things up. Some of the topics are very heavy and he handles them well.
I really like this guy and I know nothing about Ramsey. He showed up in my Youtube feed one day and that's how I heard of him.
I feel he cares about people and wants them to live their best lives. Bravo!

I never seem to get a Daily Deal that really works for me. This was drawn out and the main character was so whiny! However, the twist at the end was clever.
Narrator was good. All in all a decent listen.

An Important Book about a Tough Subject
Revisado: 04-21-24
I don't know where to begin on this one.............
First of all Jonathan Rosen is a brilliant writer. He is also a loyal friend.
I did a rotation at a Pyschiatric unit for the criminally insane and it was an experience I'll never forget.
Many people in that unit had Schizophrenia. One of the tragedies of that illness is that when they take their meds and start feeling better they think they don't need them anymore and stop taking them. Of course, that's just part of the problem.
I feel that Michael is an amazing human and that's the real tragedy of this.
Thank you, Mr. Rosen, for your fantastic book. I hope it reaches a lot of people. We need to hear about this.

I hope nobody who really is suffering with this disease further harms themselves by listening to Scamanda.
