this was a very charming story with realistic characters. I enjoyed the way the parts of the story fit together to emphasize the importance of everyday routines and faithfulness in the little things.

The content of the book is good. It is very familiar to anyone in software development. I thought the situations were realistic and it had a similar quality level as the Phoenix Project. Phoenix gradually lets you in on the "3 ways." Unfortunately, Unicorn drops its "5 Whatevers" very quickly.

The reader has a good tone of voice, but her pronunciation is very colloquial and casual. She drops consonants (importantly becomes "impor-antly"), mispronounces SQL, etc.

Any additional comments?

I wasn't sure what to expect, but ended up learning a lot about the PR industry - pretty fascinating stuff.

Would you try another book from Jane Austen and/or Mary Sarah Agliotta?

Jane Austen is great. The reader, however, misses the emphasis of sentences, mispronounces English place names, common words, etc.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Mary Sarah Agliotta?

Miss Cross from Rushmore

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Northanger Abbey?

All are good

Very good reader who uses consistent voice characterizations. The dynamics of the recording were good.

The book is great and the narrator's voice is pleasant, but they need to process the audio better. When she speaks as Jane, as narrator, it's soft and pleasant. When she speaks as a man or other third party women her voice takes on a harsh edge and the audio booms. You have to constantly adjust the audio to keep from hurting your ears. In short, the dynamic range is way too wide for an audiobook and they need to perform some simple compression.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, this is a pretty gripping story - it was the perfect companion to my tiling and yardwork.

What other book might you compare One Year After to and why?

One Second After; it's the sequel to that book.

What aspect of Bronson Pinchot’s performance would you have changed?

He was fine, but there were other readers. At one point, either the narrator changed or the narrator's voicings changed because in one chapter a character had a new jersey accent and in another chapter the same character had a southern accent. Really odd.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, it was pretty engrossing. Embarrassing, really, since it is a potboiler and not something I "should" like.

Any additional comments?

There's a sociological thinness to this book and the book for which it is a sequel. There's no racial trouble in the book and the community has a very unified approach to spirituality and life in general. It's as if all the survivors were transplanted from Lake Woebegone. If a community this unified had this much trouble after am EMP, I can't imagine what a real, diverse community would do.
