Historia
For DEA Special Agent Marshall Everett, life as he knows it is over once a gunshot wound renders his arm useless. Barred forever from the undercover work he loves, he has nothing - no close friends, no family, no hometown or base, and no desire to settle for life behind a desk. He's called to action in the most unlikely of places when he stumbles upon a beautiful girl burying an old steel box in a Parisian park.

Terrible wring.

Short choppy sentences make this book seem like it was written for early readers. Not recommended.

Historia
Before John Glenn orbited the Earth or Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, a group of dedicated female mathematicians known as "human computers" used pencils, slide rules, and adding machines to calculate the numbers that would launch rockets and astronauts into space. Among these problem solvers were a group of exceptionally talented African American women, some of the brightest minds of their generation.

Great story, boring and error-ridden performance
Revisado: 02-05-17
Would you try another book from Margot Lee Shetterly and/or Robin Miles?
I'll specifically avoid any other books from Robin Miles. Her read was not only boring - like listening to a lecture - but also lacked appropriate inflection. She would mispronounce things commonly, and emphasize the wrong words in a sentence, making it difficult to follow. Most narrators of audio books are a talented blend of storytelling and acting, but Robin simply reads the story without any care or feeling. She makes it very difficult to connect with the powerful story.

Historia
Diana Gabaldon's fans will be delighted to find Jamie and Claire as spirited and endearing as ever in this fourth installment of this magnificent saga. Twice Claire has used an ancient stone circle to travel back to the 18th century. The first time she found love with a Scottish warrior but had to return to the 1940s to save their unborn child. The second time she reunited with her lost love but had to leave behind the daughter that he would never see. Now Brianna, from her 1960s vantage point, has found a disturbing obituary and will risk everything in an attempt to change history.

Entertaining but w/ some odd details and tangents
Revisado: 05-29-15
Any additional comments?
(1) I'm listening to the Outlander series in succession, and noticed a distinct change in Brianna's voice which bothered me. She was raised in America and in past books had a sharp American accent, but in this book has pretty much the same accent as Claire, causing undue similarity in their voices. (2) In the story line there were some places where a huge misunderstanding would take place and as a reader/listener you're wondering, "Why didn't she/he just say ..."? The characters are mostly pretty direct in their manner of communication so these misunderstandings (which are integral to the story) seem implausible because it doesn't fit with the characters that they wouldn't have been more forthcoming with their "side" of the communication/argument. (3) Brianna's whole reaction to her first intimate encounter seems highly unlikely. Certainly no young woman I've ever known would have acted similarly. (4) Brianna seems way too smart to have walked into the situation with Bronner when trying to get the ring. (5) All in all, this is my least favorite so far - for these reasons and more. The characters' actions just didn't fit the personality that Gabaldon had previously created for them. I just can't clearly outline all the issues without spoiling the story lines.

Painfully horrible performance by the reader
Revisado: 08-27-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
There were some good points in the book, but also some very out of touch weird choice of words. For example, obsessive use of the word "yummy" when referring to sex. I don't know who she targets the book to, but nobody I know would relate to that syntax, or take any advice that followed seriously
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator was snarky and read the book more like a story than a self-help/advice type of book. Her constant change in vocal inflection, inappropriate use of "up speak", and emphasis on all the wrong words was distracting. I can't imagine why the author would have approved this recording, or for that matter - since the author also does public speaking - why she wouldn't have simply recorded this with her own voice.
Was 30 Days to Love worth the listening time?
All in all, no. Closing on the use of gemstones stripped her of any credibility she might have built in the earlier chapters.
Any additional comments?
If this is the work a PhD publishes, I'm glad I didn't spend any more time in school.

Wonderful classic and perfectly read
Revisado: 08-19-14
Would you consider the audio edition of To Kill a Mockingbird to be better than the print version?
Yes, I quite enjoyed Spacek's reading of the book. Perfectly paced, just the right emotion, and even the vocal variations of characters was quite impressive
Any additional comments?
The only thing I found absolutely distracting and unnecessary was the very odd musical interlude between chapters. Very strange.
