Historia
Anna Fox lives alone - a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times...and spying on her neighbors. Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, mother, their teenaged son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn't, her world begins to crumble. And its shocking secrets are laid bare.

Do we always have to have the F word?
Revisado: 02-18-18
My husband and I mostly enjoyed this audiobook on a long road trip. The story moved a bit slowly for me. I really wanted the main character to pull herself together...

Historia
Bono met his wife in high school, Park says. So did Jerry Lee Lewis, Eleanor answers. I’m not kidding, he says. You should be, she says, we’re 16. What about Romeo and Juliet? Shallow, confused, then dead. I love you, Park says. Wherefore art thou, Eleanor answers. I’m not kidding, he says. You should be. Set over the course of one school year in 1986, this is the story of two star-crossed misfits - smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love.

If you don't like the "F" word don't get this book
Revisado: 05-11-14
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Please, I am so offended by the "F" word. I know, I'm old and everyone uses it (the "F word") all the time, but to me it is like a slap in the face. There was so much to love about this book. Did I finish it? Yes, I loved it in every other way. And I know, the author is trying to create a feeling on the bus at the beginning of the book. I think our culture has become so numb to it that kids don't realize how offensive it is. I wish I could recommend this book to my friends and my students, but I just can't. It's too bad because there was so much about it that I absolutely loved.... just clean up the language.

Historia
Stoneybridge is a small town on the west coast of Ireland where all the families know one another. When Chicky Starr decides to take an old, decaying mansion set high on the cliffs overlooking the windswept Atlantic Ocean and turn it into a restful place for a holiday by the sea, everyone thinks she is crazy. Helped by Rigger (a bad boy turned good who is handy around the house) and Orla, her niece (a whiz at business), Chicky is finally ready to welcome the first guests to Stone House’s big warm kitchen, log fires, and understated elegant bedrooms.

If you could sum up A Week in Winter in three words, what would they be?
Like hanging out with old friends. I love Maeve Binchy. She writes stories that make me feel good.
