When I first saw all the 5* reviews I was really skeptical, but after making my way through most of the book within a week, I have to say that this is the absolute best Audible purchase I've ever made. I did 100 or so days on Duolingo and really like it, but really wanted a way to practice in the car while driving for hours and this is it!!!

I really enjoy books by JoJo Moyes, but this one was kind of a dud. Way too many unrealistic, far fetched storylines and of course everything gets up packaged neatly at the end. I somehow made it through, but thought many times about abandoning....

No from Diane Chamberlain and yes from Susan Bennett

Has The Silent Sister turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, but it squashed all interested in reading anything else by Diane Chamberlain.

Which scene was your favorite?

Lots of options for LEAST favorite, but none really that stuck out as great. It was all just so very mediocre.

Any additional comments?

With such high ratings, I had much higher hopes for this book. I just truly didn't like the characters and what the author did with them. It was all very far fetched, unrealistic and the twists were predictable. Dad must have really hated Mom for letting her suffer the loss of her child all these years. All the interactions with Tom and Vernice were just annoying. One moment Riley is the biggest pushover, the next moment she cancels the transaction for the park with one phonecall and Tom and Vernice just conveniently fizzle away. The whole estate sale business that took up pages and pages as fillers? Danny has been through hard times, but has only hate and still absolutely no compassion for his sister even once he finds out that got sexually abused from when she was a little girl? Still irritated that I wasted a credit on this....

Live speech with a great speaker, very good listen

Funny and entertaining and at the same time full of good info. I am listening to it for the second time now, with a notebook in my hand to jot down all the good nuggets when touches on. Great balance of real life advice mixed with some ideas that are a little more out there. Great for everyone

Fabulous book for the serious Messie!

This is great for anyone that wants to understand WHY they are a messie and what to do to get started on a road to a happier, peaceful life without the Chaos. If you have tried traditional organizing books and the systems don't work for you, go deeper and listen to this one before trying again. Quick, easy listen, you can't go wrong!

Great addition to your Success Library

I am almost through my first listen and am very impressed with the entire program. Tracy is a very upbeat speaker, who has done his research. I find listening to him extremely motivational..best thing to listen to when you feel in a whiny "ain't it awful" mode. He definitely doesn't make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, his focus is definitely on business and success, and you have to listen a little deeper to see his human side. Listen to this program in combination with something by Jim Rohn (e.g. I highly recommend "Living an exceptional Life") and the Success Principles by Jack Canfield and you'll see the same ideas sink in deeper with a little more human touch added.
The amount of original Tracy ideas may be small, but he's a master at pulling all the information out there together and presenting it in a way that it's clear and easy to comprehend.

Smart, comprehensive and funny

If you're looking for "get rich quick" advice, this book is NOT it. It is, however, an in depth look at the various paths of how the rich got there, all of them involving various degrees of time, effort and determination.
I was happily surprised about the author's wicked sense of humor, he doesn't leave things unsaid and his, at times brutal, honesty is very refreshing to me. Well read, too, a great listen overall!!

Must-have for anyone interested in Self-Help Books

This one is the best purchase I've made on audible.com to this date. I enjoy reading a variety of Self-Help / Motivational books, but with as much as there is out there today, you often just don't know where to start. This audio gives you an introduction to many fascinating books I would have never thought about picking up before and lets you get past the ones you don't enjoy in minutes. There are some recurring themes in some books and some basic happiness principles suddenly become clear, others I want to explore further. Everyone will have different favorites, but I can see why some of these books have topped the best seller lists for many years running. Some are already on my bookshelf, but maybe I wasn't ready for them when I bought them years ago, after listening to this, I am ready to revisit them!!

Review Update

I figured I'd better update my earlier review of this audio book. While I still believe that the audio book should have been read by someone else in order to make it easier to focus on the content, I am getting over that part. 6 hours into the book I am glad that I didn't give up earlier on. Many ideas are so simple, yet so profound and I believe that anyone who is open to look at the world from a different perspective can gain something from reading this.
