Historia
Read by best-selling narrator, Steve Cook, enjoy Sara: Book of Tobit in the Apocrypha. Sara is miserable because of numerous marital misfortunes, and she eventually prays to God that he would let her die. Her story is intertwined with that of Tobit, a righteous man who lived in Nineveh (a town many miles away) near the time of Jonah, the biblical Prophet. Tobit, for reasons of his own, also prays to God to allow him to die at the very same time Sara does.

Not focused on Sara
Revisado: 06-28-18
The Book of Tobit is my favorite book in the scriptures. The narrator did a great job in bringing this book to life. The book also has a great introduction on the apocrypha. I felt though that I was tricked by the title. There is very little analysis of Sara or anything that told why she was great. The Sadducees used this story in an attempt to trap Christ, Luke 20:27-33. Yet this is not mentioned.

Now Captain John Naiser and his crew spearhead a diplomat mission to the alien homeworld, hoping to ease them into the galactic mainstream.

A Savage Disappointment
Revisado: 08-08-15
The Ark Royal series was amazing. An antiquated battleship with an alcoholic commander fighting an unknown alien foe. Warspite had interesting elements. New hybrid ship. Homosexual captain that was a starfighter pilot who lost his companion in the war. Geeky yet attractive first officer. Mentions of another space faring race that has bat-like ship. Whetting our curiosity for more space adventures and the unknown.
This book expands on none of that. It consists of meeting notes in a conference room. That is ALL this book is. Warspite just floats in orbit, doing nothing, while on the surface, everyone just meets and talks and meets and listens and talks. Will I listen to the next book? Yes. If anything, just to hear if the Royal Marine strikes up a relationship with the ambassador that is 10 years his senior. It was a real struggle to finish this one.

Historia
John Varley's monumental trilogy - Titan, Wizard, and Demon - has achieved cult status, hailed as a modern triumph of the imagination by critics and fans. It begins with humankind's exploration of a massive satellite orbiting Saturn. It culminates in a shocking discovery: the satellite is a giant alien being. Her name is Gaea. Her awesome interior is mind-boggling - because it is a mind. A mind that calls out to explorers...and transforms all who enter.

Fantasy Ringworld Robinson Crusoe
Revisado: 04-19-14
The cover says the greatest epic of our time. The story really is just a hodgepodge of Ringworld, Rainbow Mars, greek mythology, and Xena. The book was OK since I only paid $4.95 for it. I am glad that I didn't use a full credit. I also grew tired of the lesbianism and anti-male sentiments written into the story.

In John Scalzi's re-imagining of H. Beam Piper's 1962 sci-fi classic Little Fuzzy, written with the full cooperation of the Piper Estate, Jack Holloway works alone for reasons he doesnt care to talk about. Hundreds of miles from ZaraCorps headquarters on planet, 178 light-years from the corporations headquarters on Earth, Jack is content as an independent contractor, prospecting and surveying at his own pace. As for his past, thats not up for discussion.

Enjoyable Space Law
Revisado: 04-03-14
I was a little concerned that an actor was going to read this book. Sometimes the talent doesn't translate to audiobooks, but Wil Wheaton does a pretty good job. I wish that he could have varied his voices more for the human characters, but he is good enough that I would listen to other books narrated by him. The story also is interesting and engaging with a surprise at the end.

Historia
Jane Carver is nobody's idea of a space princess. A hard-ridin', hard-lovin' biker chick and ex-Airborne Ranger, Jane is as surprised as anyone else when, on the run from the law, she ducks into the wrong cave at the wrong time - and wakes up butt-naked on an exotic alien planet light-years away from everything she's ever known. Waar is a savage world of four-armed tiger-men, sky-pirates, slaves, gladiators, and purple-skinned warriors in thrall to a bloodthirsty code of honor and chivalry.

Not even 2 dimensional
Revisado: 02-19-14
Alright, John Carter of Mars was written in the infancy of Science Fiction. I always enjoyed its simplicity and straight forwardness. The characters in it a two dimensional because of that infancy. This book is less than that. For one, I hate swearing in Science fiction. It is a genre that doesn't need it. 2. I TRIED to get into this book with the same excitement that I have for A Princess of Mars but I just couldn't finish it. The author tried too hard to be like ERB and failed in the attempt.

Enjoyably In Depth
Revisado: 12-21-12
What did you love best about Jaya?
I purchased the audible version of this book because it was inexpensive. I have been thoroughly entertained and enlightened by this version of the Mahabharata. Is is the full Mahabharata? No, but Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik has selected certain stories from the whole that highlight the family relationships and the historical decisions that led to the war. The book reading was a bit fast for my western ears so I turned it to 1/2 speed and it was very enjoyable.
I was also impressed by the many references to individual folk stories and plays from the different regions where the Mahabharata has traveled.
If you are new to the Mahabharata, I would recommend this version to get started to learn the overall main theme of the epic.
