Historia
Patric Gagne realized she made others uncomfortable before she started kindergarten. Something about her caused people to react in a way she didn’t understand. She suspected it was because she didn’t feel things the way other kids did. Emotions like fear, guilt, and empathy eluded her. For the most part, she felt nothing. And she didn’t like the way that “nothing” felt.

Dang! Surprisingly- one of my favorites!
Revisado: 04-11-25
I did not think so would enjoy this book and had heard nothing about it. I had no idea that sociopathy was such an understudied under developed mental condition! It is so unfair that people that have sociopathy really have zero resources when this book was written anyway. I have so much respect for this authors, tenacity, and intelligence! That would take so much discipline to deny your own instincts and to take the time to become your own therapist and your own healer. Very well written, couldn't stop listening!! I learned a lot about myself through this book. It was very insightful entertaining! Glad to have read it!

Historia
Shari Franke’s childhood was a constant battle for survival. Her mother, Ruby Franke, enforced a severe moral code while maintaining a façade of a picture-perfect family for their wildly popular YouTube channel 8 Passengers, which documented the day-to-day life of raising six children for a staggering 2.5 million subscribers. But a darker truth lurked beneath the surface—Ruby’s wholesome online persona masked a more tyrannical parenting style than anyone could have imagined.

Well written- but HOW DOES SHE READ HER OWN STORY WITH SUCH COMPLETE APATHY?
Revisado: 04-11-25
Excellent story, and well written - but her choice to narrate her own tail completely lacked any hint of emotion or depth. It sounded like an elementary school kid reading a book with unfamiliar words and scenarios for the first time. I would think as this is her own story that she would easily and automatically share some real emotion, enthusiasm or some version of real feeling. It was very stiffly and robotically read-- I would compare it to a babysitter reading a story she "had" to read quickly before putting kids to bed. Honestly, her reading style is so poor that I checked twice to make sure the narrator really was actually the author. Based on what I heard all through her story-- I would NEVER have believed she was actually reading her own story. Such a disappointment- because it's such a good story and she has a gift for writing. Maybe she had a ghost writer? Why would her own written words, which I'm certain she reviewed meticulously, come out of her sounding so forced and unnatural ? Oh well, stick with writing; don't be an actress, my friend. Fortunately I was able to push through it, despite that constant, annoying, apathetic voice. If you plan to write more books in the future, please hire a really good narrator. Thanks for sharing your story and for writing it down! I respect your bravery in writing and sharing this part of your life!

Revisado: 04-04-25
I nearly didn't finish this book because the story made me SO frustrated! The total lack of control the characters seem to have the psychopaths doing the controlling are described in such realistic detail- it pissed me off! I've read other books by Mars and I chose to have faith that good things would come. Beautifully narrated ; each character becomes very real. Loved it - glad I chose to stick with it, it was definitely very unique and unpredictable! Hard to find anything genuinely unique in a book with as much as I read and listen

Historia
Terry Crews spent decades cultivating his bodybuilder physique and bravado. On the outside, he seemed invincible: he escaped his abusive father, went pro in the NFL, and broke into the glamorous world of Hollywood. But his fixation with appearing outwardly tough eventually turned into an exhausting performance in which repressing his emotions let them get the better of him—leading him into addiction and threatening the most important relationships in his life. Now Crews is sharing the raw, never-before-told story of his quest to find the true meaning of toughness.

Revisado: 02-18-25
Very well written, so incredibly insightful and full of some of the most naked vulnerability I've heard! I learned so much just about humanity and self belief systems. I have a huge amount of respect and gratitude to Terry for have the courage to write all of this down so that others can learn and grown from his experiences. Best book I've read in years- Thank you Mr Crews!!

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Historia
It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself.

Honestly it's pretty much a book about nothing - boring!!
Revisado: 01-06-25
Way too uneventful and predictable for my taste. Not one unusual or particularly interesting event in the entire book. I'm surprised it was so highly rated- I've read SO many books. This one was just like background noise- did not even have to pay much attention to know exactly what was going on or to predict the ending.

Historia
Trauma nurse Aly Cappellucci doesn’t need any more kinks. She likes the one she’s landed on just fine. To her, nothing could top the masked men she follows online. Unless one of those men was shirtless, heavily tattooed, and waiting for her in her bedroom. She dreams about being hunted by one in particular, of him chasing her down and doing deliciously dark things to her willing body. She never could have guessed that by sending one drunken text, those dreams would become her new reality.

Revisado: 11-18-24
Loved the story- very creative, made me laugh! Super hot chemistry. Only complaint I had was the female narrator style of reading was so dorky! Made it hard for me to picture it belonging to a sexy woman- I kept picturing some plain Jane school teacher or flabby police woman. His voice made up for it!

Historia
Emotional intelligence affects every aspect of the way we live, from romantic to professional relationships, from our inner resilience to our social success. It is arguably the single most important skill for surviving the twenty-first century. But what does it really mean? One decade ago, Alain de Botton founded The School of Life, an institute dedicated to understanding and improving our emotional intelligence. Now he presents the gathered wisdom of those ten years in a wide-ranging and innovative compendium of emotional intelligence that forms an introduction to The School of Life.
